Be wary using this company.I booked my car through Expedia. However, upon collection at London Heathrow the price was considerably higher. When I questioned this I was told it would be resolved when the car returned and final invoice produced. A week later I have been billed the overcharged amount and neither Expedia nor Europcar willing to sort it out. In fact Europcar wrote to me saying they would not honor the Expedia pricing.Unethical and dishonest. Not a company I will be using again and I warn anyone booking to be wary too.
This is a racket. They create spurious claims of damages after you return the car and make hefty claims. They charged me £360. This happened at the Glasgow airport branch in 2025. I will never ever use this company again. Avoid at all cost!
Terrible underhanded methods of upselling. I hired a car and all of the additional services were added as routine. I was not asked at any point whether I required the premium insurance, the breakdown cover or whether I wanted to prepurchase petrol, so I filled up the car just before return. These were all added without my consent by the sneaky staff member. A very expensive mistake on my part and these were added to my invoice. Maybe staff are on bonuses for upselling, so be careful and take your time when hiring a car from this untrustworthy company to ask for a breakdown of the costs.
Been charged 40 for returning my car with more fule in than it had when they delivered it, had the car while our motability car was in the garage. Car was OK but staff of the phone seemed annoyed my requirements are complex, collection went OK then 4 days later there has been a charge on my debit card no email no invoice in the post and the person on the phone didn't seem to be interested in helping avoid
Very bad client experience. Car rent 1 month in advance, check-in done at the same time and validated. But the day of the delivery, I have been informed that the check was not ok, with not capacity to provide missing document, I was not aware of… They cancelled the booking and proposed not to charge the cancellation fee … I have never seen so poor service. It is a shame.
One star is one too many collected car just handed the keys no inspection no invoice just my card to hold the reservation returned well befor due time once again no inspection just took keys and said deposit would be returned and invoice would be sent to my email 3 days later email saying car was 3 days late still no invoice or email rang 3 times on phone for 1 and half hours being passed from customer services finally got through to the branch booked one car received a completely different one Never again would I book with this company
Worse company even .Charged my fine after one year .Just took money from my account without any information.I not even sure if it is my fine or not.I parked in train station once but I am sure I stay there no more than allowed free time.Just steal my money in Aberdeen
This company, kept us waiting for 90 minutes in Dublin, because they tried to sell everyone upgrades, bigger cars, automatic,s and took 2.5k off unsuspecting customers, even after they spent 70£ with ryanair, while booking the hire car, then to be told they dont honour 3rd party insurers. A complete disgrace, we missed our appointment, then missed a ferry, for no good reason.. avoid this company, they had 100 customers waiting and only 20 seats.. they offered a customers who was in front of me the car i already booked, and told me then there were none left, and gave me a car I didn't book.. unbelievable... avoid these rip off merchants
Warning: Fraud/scamThe employee at this office told me I was legally obligated to pay for additional insurance to drive on the roads in the UK. I later learned this is not true.Customer Service has been ignoring my case since July so I'm working with my Credit Card company to get the money back.I'm fairly certain this is intentional since the employee was trying to aggressively upsell us even beyond the made up "required" insurance, and I'm not the first person here to experience this
So this is a very honest review that I wanted to leave, which I don’t usually do but going on the very poor reviews already left here I wanted to share my experience. We compared loads of car rental companies and the reviews on most were terrible, I ended going with Europcar because I’d left it last minute so I took the chance. Me and my daughter arrived at Ibiza airport went to the helpdesk, the lady that served us was not overly welcoming, the other staff member next to her was lovely. So we went through paperwork she then proceeded to do what I’d read in previous reviews and upsell insurance. Was told if I got a scratch on the car more than roughly an inch I’d have to pay €2800 excess, doesn’t leave you much choice so I took it and paid the extra £110. Fortunately I had the money to pay but I know some families budget when they go away so I felt this wasn’t right the company should be more transparent online when booking instead of trying to take more money from there customers when they arrive. Pretty much scaremongering with high excesses. This aside, the vehicle we choose wasn’t available so they upgraded us to a bigger car. Absolutely no issues with it at all. They give you a full tank of fuel and you have to return it with a full tank which I done. The girl checked over the car I signed and left. I also took a video of the car too as this was something I’d also read customers getting billed for additional costs relating to the car on return. The initial deposit i paid on arrival was still pending then another one appeared for a slightly higher amount when I returned back to Glasgow which I thought here we go there going to charge me extra for something. I phoned customer service and to be fair they were actually helpful. The pending transaction didn’t come off and the correct amount for the additional insurance was taken. So all in all other than the upsell of insurance the experience wasn’t actually so bad. This is why I wanted to leave a review. As long as you budget for the additional insurance, which in my opinion you shouldn’t have to do, the company should be more upfront with this online and hopefully they change this way of doing business.
