Absolutely shocking new policy!! Would like to give no stars at all. My daughter having flown from Australia where she works at the moment hired a car to pick up from Stanstead Airport, on arrival was told that she could not hire the vehicle as she didn’t have a return flight booked ! this was because she had come home as her father was in a hospice dying so no time scale available, despite being a British Citizen, having paid with credit card at home Uk address and hired from here before was still told no therefore stranding her at the airport . I cannot believe that this policy is even in place , what a dreadful company
I called Europcar to enquire about hiring a car for two weeks from Gatwick airport and received a very competitive quote for a small automatic. I then called other companies for comparison but Europcar has the most convenient acceptance of cards for the deposit and payment and the price was excellent.I arrived at the hire desk earlier than expected but they were able to provide a car without a problem. The agent who served me, called Cash was a real gentleman and very patient with me when I had a problem with my card. He even gave me an upgrade on the original small car I was quoted for which will certainly keep me returning whenever I need to hire a car.My only complaint was with the delay in connecting me to the correct branch from the call centre. I was on hold for several minutes. I realise that Europcar bookings are primarily made online but an efficient call centre is a key element of frontline customer service.I give the agent, Cash, five stars for his courtesy and kindness.I give the call centre two stars for keeping me on hold for over three minutes at least.
Car hire was okay. My issue is with extortionate prices to cover Excess for theft and accidental damage!!! I paid more than twice the cost of my rental from Naples Airport for 4 days for this insurance!GET Excess Cover through RAC or similar before you leave the UK - these are guys are minting money by fleecing us when at the pick up.
Crooks! They told me at the rental desk that I could bring the fuel tank back at any level and they would fill it up at cost price for no extra charge.2 days after I had returned the car with 7/8 full tank, they charged me £67!!No responses to emails sent to complain, and unable to do anything on the phone.DO NOT USE EUROPCAR
I am giving this Company a 1 star review, because I cannot give them any less. I was given a hire 'car' by my insurance company while mine was being repaired. I am nearly 70 and need a car to get around, so when my car went in for some repairs, the repair company stated that their courtesy cars were too small for me, (I am quite tall) Europcar were my insurers choice to give me a suitable car. They contacted me top say that they had not got an SUV as requested, but would give me something as close to an SUV as possible. What they supplied was a 9seater mini bus.I tried to contact them to explain that the 'car' was not suitable but every time I called, I was constantly put on hold. I even completed their contact us form only for them to send me a standard reply email 2 weeks after the van had been returned. Do not accept anything from this firm unless you are happy with the size of vehicle and the condition. make sure that you take an all round video just in case they try to con you for damage that you have not caused.
Great experience nice car was given a Volkswagen Thiago 25 plate was clean very good to drive very safe had all the latest feature park assist traction very big spacious and the process was very easy
Car was due to be collected Saturday between 8am and 12 noon, no one showed and no phone call. I called the customer service desk and they told me the branch had closed and so I explained they should have collected the car and the reply was 'the branch is closed' and no apology for bad service or advice on what to do or offer to email the Branch - The person just had no customer service skills. Then on Monday I was text (no call to arrange and check availability) to say they are collecting between 11 and 2pm. I was not with the car as I was at work. So I had to call the branch. I was on hold for 15 minutes with no answer (my time) - so I called the customer service line which was answered quicker and informed them I was not available and the branch needed to call me before they send someone to collect the car.Got no call and they came to collect anyway wasting there own time.Appalling service from all departments - Wolverhampton Brach
I would like to give a review about my experience at Europcar by Birmingham airport today. The front desk employee named “Bryan” (black guy at desk) mistreated me and my uncle so badly today. I came to the branch desperate for a car as I broke down and I needed something for the morning to commute to work. The first thing Bryan told me and reassured me was dont worry we have enough cars for you today and showed me all the cars they had in the carpark. I felt a bit better because thats what I needed to hear. Once he found out that Im desperate for a car as I broken down and once he found out what do I do for work everything changed. So online it was showing they have availabity for an Audi A3 coming all together around £250 for 4 days (second driver included) I did not book it online as I was unsure if they accept debit or credit card. So I turned up to the branch, even then I needed my uncle to book as I am currently waiting for my debit card to come home so in this case he would pay , and I can transfer him the money and I can drive to work. Let’s go back at the point when “Bryan” found out how desperate I was for a car. He only offered me a Fiat punto for first £389, (after I told my uncle to make way and come to the branch) then I asked him how come online it says I can get an audi for almost half the price he said no you cannot no you cannot without giving me an answer as I was confused. Fair enough he wanted me to pay double, my uncle asked a question so which other cars do you have and Bryan looked at him weird asking for translation as my uncle english is not perfect but he is a manager at a wholesale place I can assure he has a degree, who is Bryan to make joke of his english?. This completely made me think he was being racist to us. I then asked, ok so what if I book a car for 2 hours later as per online procedure and it was showing I can get an A3 for £250 for 4 days what would you do then if you saying you cannot give me that one as its gone? He did not bother giving me a proper answer and instead of helping me save money or finding a solution to my problem he decided to just say mate you can have the Fiat punto for £456 now or I’ll just tell you to walk out mate. What? So the price gone up for me asking few questions or my uncle asking a question? THIS IS NOT HOW YOU TREAT A CUSTOMER IN NEED OF HELP, I DO NOT KNOW WHO GAVE TRAINING TO THIS GUY BUT PEOPLE AT DESKS ARE MEANT TO HELP CUSTOMER AND NOT CHARGE EXTRA EXTORTION PRICES. IM REALLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS EXPERIENCE AS I WASTED ALMOST 3 HOURS OF MY TIME AND ALL I GOT IN RETURN WAS THIS GUY TRYING TO SHOW HIS POWER AND BE RACIST TO MY UNCLE PLUS STRESS TO FIND A CAR FOR MORNING. Really disappointed in you guys, because of Bryan I will have to catch a taxi early in the morning and back home. Meanwhile the other guy at the desk was the opposite, he went home at 7.30/8 pm but was willing to help his attitude was really nice I wish he stayed and dealt with my query. Also the guy bringing the cars was really kind too. Bryan Instead he could have decided to help me saying, mate book it for the morning or tomorrow online it might be cheaper or better cars etc….Is this how you treat customers in need of help? Charge extra amounts to show your powers? I have rented cars of you guys before and a lot of my friends and family have in the past hence I came. But after this experience with BRYAN do you think they would want to book again?
What an absolute disgrace of a company . I am disabled and my car went in for repair so Europcar were the insurers choice for rental car . Rang and rang them for hrs for three days constant when this clown place was to arrange a vehicle for me . They rang and left a message seven days after and my car had been repaired and returned . I couldn’t go out while this disgusting company didn’t arrive with my rental . Worse company I’ve ever dealt with and have heard they regularly let disabled drivers down and are rude without any empathy !!!
Hired a car from Inverness airport. Booked when booking flights with easyjet thinking that if they are associated with easyjet then the company would be ok. Took multiple photos of the outside of the car on collection Returned as collected. On return (27/7/25), car was not inspected in our presence, everyone said it would all be fine. Assumed easygoing Scottish folk and trusted our report that there was no damage - which there was not. Received an invoice for missing parcel shelf which was never there, Wrote back to dispute. Did not hear again for nearly 2 months when they just sent an invoice through today (1/10/25)! Will dispute this! What a scam these guys are running. Will never rent from them again and also telling everyone I know not to either, Recommend anyone reading this also never rents from this company,
