Changed Schedule - Changed Opinion

We were booked on the last train on Saturday evening, but a week before departure Eurostar moved the scheduled departure by 30 minutes earlier. We would not be able to arrive in time for the lengthy departure process and were obliged to change to the first train on Sunday morning. I lost the cost of a night in the hotel, plus half a day of touring in Paris - Not impressed.

Great customer service- their app is easy to navigate and if you need to call them up with a query they answer quickly and are very helpful and personable to talk to.

Forced to buy more expensive tickets, no response to request to cancel

Eurostar cancelled return train during half term 10 days before departure. We felt forced to upgrade since no other tickets available on the date, and we cannot travel on any other. These are at double costs of original tickets. We eventually decided to cancel both journeys and request full refund but are unable to do so online. I contacted customer service and wrote to Traveller Care Team, but received nothing in 4 days. Are we supposed to travel or risk losing all money?

French passport control on British soil…

French passport control on British soil is a joke and should be investigated for their malfeasance. Eurostar is a big scam with poundland systems and french bureaucracy - a highly toxic mix. Avoid and get a plane. It took twenty mins PER person to clear passport control and they had to delay the trains. It gets worse. On the return journey - delayed after 5 mins running for twenty mins and counting. No comms on it. Disgusting and poor service. Never again in all my life. Charge points are stupid EU ones too. NOTE to the geniuses who run these trains - don’t make digital tickets compulsory and passport scans by machines compulsory if you don’t have the infrastructure or charge poundland rates and not premium ones. You should be investigatedUpdate - after nearly an hour sat after 5 mins of movement i get an email that says it will be delayed by 60-120 mins. Do these fools understand how much a ticket out of London costs? It’s not 1990 when tickets out of london were a tenner. You are talking £100 to get in and out of that garbage hole. I will be expecting a full refund of that ticket and this oneNext update. After an hour we are waiting at least 30 mins for a technician to give this tuna can the seal of approval to move. DO YOU THINK AFTER PAYING AT LEAST £150 A TICKET THEY DESERVE A F’ING TECHNICIAN PRESENT ON THE DAMN TRAIN????!!!!!!! How is this even legal to not have an engineer present on the train? Utter sh!t showIf you want to complain about Eurostar and don't fancy wasting your time on french beaucracy when they clearly archive all complaints in the bin, I suggest you write to the MP responsible for overseeing Eurostar’s management in the UK. LORD Peter Hendy. Get it sorted, Pete, or lose your Lordship! It’s an utter disgrace! What do we employ you for?Update. Apparently i will get back to St Pancras 3-4 hours late. But good news as we have the seal of approval to move (that was thirty mins ago and still no movement). Even better news is if your connecting train is part of the high speed alliance you can get a free ticket on the next available train. NEWSFLASH NO TRAINS OUT OF AT PANCRAS ARE ON THIS ELUSIVE HIGHSPEED ALLIANCE UTTER LIES. But it’s okay there is an email address we can mail re compensation which they haven't bothered to give us. Eurostar shpuld be prosecuted for being worse than public transport in India whilst charging Swiss prices. NEVER AGAIN

Appalling customer service provision

Eurostar changed my seats without warning to seats in the buffet car, which are unsuitable for travelling with my autistic child. There is no way to contact them directly, and their customer service is awful, putting people through a series of portals and automated responses. I've been chasing them for two weeks to try and get our seat allocation changed and have not received a response. Eurostar used to be a good company and I have used them frequently, but their customer service has deteriorated over the years, and I'm sorry to say that I will be reluctant to use them in future. There are alternatives to continental travel which at least provide customer support.

Eurostar should be ashamed

Eurostar makes it easy to buy a ticket. But if you have to cancel, they take extraordinary steps to make it difficult. It feels like a ploy to make me give up and just keep the unused ticket. Eurostar should be ashamed.

Onestar

Eurostar? Onestar, terrible cancellation policy, poor waiting facilities. Especially in London, poor help online. All round pretty poor services.

Beware Eurostar 'special offers'

We bought return tickets to Rotterdam on a special offer. However, the return journey was cancelled few weeks after we booked. We were given the choice of cancelling the whole trip or paying for an upgrade for our return journey. If we cancelled the trip we would have lost money on our accommodation and museum tickets etc. The upgrade cost though was twice the amount we had originally paid for the whole journey. Very far from a special offer weekend away. If I buy a train ticket in the UK, the company will get me there even if there's a cancellation, without charging an astronomical amount. No duty of care from Eurostar - it's all about profit

Bad customer service, bad trains, bad experience

The service I was due to travel on from Amsterdam to London was cancelled 20 minutes before departure due to a couple of inches of light snow leading to 100s of stranded passengers and chaotic scenes at Amsterdam Central . I had to threaten legal action to get a refund (I am a solicitor but in spite of this -or maybe because of it! -there was a lot of push back from Eurostar )The refund portal would not work and they kept insisting that I had to get a refund from NS International. When I eventually got on a Eurostar train the next day it was tired and smelled of BO . They are not investing in either the rolling stock or the lines and it shows.
