We’ve had a water softener 500 gold from them for four/five years. Recently it stopped working properly. We contacted the company that took over the business twice for service and repair, but were told everything was fine, even though the water remained hard. We then asked another local company to inspect it and were informed that the unit installed was a very basic model, significantly lower in value than the €1,000 we paid. As a result, we are now facing additional costs to repair the system and replace low-quality components with better-quality parts. Very disappointing experience-we would not recommend this company!

Avoid Culligan! Water ContaminatorsThere are three companies interrelated in some way- EWT/Culligan and Celtic Water Solutions. I was promised some contact about this problem from a Manager in Culligan. This did not happen. Instead he referred the review below to CWS (Celtic Water Solutions). This type of ‘book passing’ seems to be the norm for this company. Here are the issues outlined:Some chemical impurities mixed with our water system because the 'Bottom Ender' was not functioning adequately. This leak cased a jelly like 'gunge' to build up in our pipes, heating system and machinery - washing machine and showers. It cost us in the region of 3000 euro recently to clean out, repair, replace machinery and the blocked pipes. And to get our heating system working again. Culligan claim that EWT bear the responsibility. But this damage manifested just recently. And there could even be further 'gunge' lurking in our system. The Culligan manager in Galway promised a call back twice some weeks ago at certain agreed times, but didn't call! Not unusual for EWT, Culligan and this manager. My latest emails were ignored. Sometimes, when it suits Culligan will blame EWT and says the problem lies with EWT. But Culligan has taken over EWT and so shares the responsibility. This seems like a ploy to me to avoid proper customer service.A previous EWT / Culligan technician and local plumber both reported that the original 'Bottom Enders' originally installed were too small and weak to deal with the system and so chemicals leaked into the water...causing this brown jelly like substance, which can destroy your water system and machinery. They have replaced this ineffective 'Bottom Ender' with stronger ones, in many premises between Dunshaughlin and Drogheda, we were told. Did you check your 'Bottom Ender'? We have been advised to avoid EWT/Culligan for obvious reasons. All in all, I intend to pursue a legal case against this company unless we are compensated for this suspect system with 3000 euro. In the meantime I would avoid EWT/Culligan, or any other name they operate under. Instead of purifying water, their system is likely to contaminate it. And then the company blames someone else. I await payment of 3000euro- the cost of making good the damage caused by our water being contaminated.
EW Technologies offers decent water solutions with helpful reminders and resources for maintenance. While the engineers are skilled, scheduling can be a hassle at times, with delays affecting their reliability. On the positive side, the team's advice and friendliness stood out. Overall, their products work well, but their service could use some improvement.
I wanted to share my experience with the EWT Gold Series 606 water softener (now owned by Culligan Ireland) that I've had for about five years. Like many others, I made quite a big investment in this system, plus I've been paying around €200 every year for their maintenance service. The sales team convinced me it was worth it, promising the unit would last at least 10 years with regular servicing.Just a couple of months ago, during my annual service, I noticed something odd - the salt level hadn't dropped for ages. I mentioned this to the engineer, but he brushed it off, saying the salt was just stuck and cleared it out. Well, wouldn't you know it, the unit suddenly stopped working shortly after and started making these awful beeping noises. I tried reaching out to customer service multiple times, but they couldn't have seemed less interested in helping. Finally, they sent a technician who found that the head unit (basically a plastic piece that controls water flow) was broken. Their solution? Pay €380 for a replacement! After some back-and-forth, they dropped it to €300, or offered a new system for €650. Given the hard water in our area, I needed something working quickly and couldn't face starting over with another company, so I grudgingly went with the head unit replacement. Here's what really gets me - this wasn't due to anything I did wrong. It's clearly just poor quality materials, and they should have replaced it free of charge. To add insult to injury, after Culligan took over EWT, they wiped out all my loyalty points from previous referrals and purchases without even a heads-up.Bottom line? I wouldn't recommend these folks to anyone. The product quality is questionable, their customer service is frustrating at best, and they clearly don't care about their long-term customers. Save yourself the headache (and money) and look elsewhere for your water softener needs.
INEXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Had an issue with the softener unit late 2024, where it kept beeping and asking for a servicing. I went ahead and scheduled a date with their technicians and paid the full price for it. Turns out it was an error on their ends and payment wasn't required. I've agreed not to get a refund but to have a proper servicing at a later date as it was already paid for. A few months later, now in 2025, I've been trying to contact them for 3 weeks now and no sign of their customer service, not even an auto-responder on email. I had a good experience with them until recently, but things right now are quite disappointing.
Not Recommended – EWT is no longer what it used to beMy last review of EWT was positive – I wrote it about 8 years ago when many of my neighbours were installing water softeners from this company. The first few years of use were absolutely fine. We were told that an annual service would keep our lifetime guarantee active. Although the service price increased year after year, it still felt like a good deal. Two years ago, I had my first issue with the filter. A technician came out and repaired it without any problem or charge. Unfortunately, in January of this year, the filter started leaking those small resin beads into the system again. This time, I was told the warranty only covers labour, not parts, so I had to pay for the repair. At the same time, several of my neighbours also began to complain about EWT’s customer service. I learned that the company had changed ownership – and ever since, it seems like they only care about making money rather than honouring their original commitments. It’s a real shame that such a good company with excellent service in the past has gone downhill like this. Never again.
I’m a customer of EWT from almost 10 years. My direct debit has been changed 3 times in the past 12 months and suddenly I’ve been contacted from an operator to book my annual service and due my gold membership, I am entitled to receive 12 bags of salt. The salt delivery is provided by DHL, but the shipment has been delayed from over 10 days and they suggest to me to contact the sender.EWT do not answer the phone even after 45 minutes on the line in position 1.God knows if I will have my service done.I’m running out of salt and this could damage my water softener system. This company is a joke.
I had an issue with my water softener a few years back. It completely flooded my water pipes with micro.beads. Ever since despite several services and repairs still not working properly. A few months back I paid for a service and repair due to.lime in my water. Charged me 200 Euros approx. Still not working properly. When I called to get someone out AGAIN got a very poor and condescending attitude and was told I would have to.pay AGAIN.Still waiting for an appointment. Dismal standandard of service support, repair and customer service. Sorry I ever bought a system off EWT
I do not recommend this companyif you have the opportunity to buy a water softener somewhere else, do it.I bought a water softener from ewt 3 years ago and you know how it is at the beginning when you spend 1000 euros everything is greatbut later the customer service is really bad....2nd yearasking for service for a month, finally someone comes, does the service but did something wrong and after 2 weeks they send another one3rd yeara service technician comes, does the service but sets something wrong and pours water out of the water softener, another one comes after some time, sets almost everything because it did not restart the water softener and after a month the alarm goes off ....my girlfriend calls them, they help to restart over the phone but after another month we check the water and somehow it is the worst ever .....and so for 3 weeks we have been trying to contact them but ....
