Review Time
Went for a nice day out scanned a QR code on a parking payment board at a big event london venue and somehow ended up with an account with gadgetgeek.store (also ended up with another account with another company using exactly the same format but that is another review) Luckily I noticed a pending payment of 84 pence on my bank account and contacted gadgetgeek.store to cancel subscription, after all it had been less than 12 hours since account opening. I also contacted them through their chat window on the website and had a long and awkward chat session within which my questions were reluctantly answered. Oh yes I could cancel but not as per UK cooling off period rules but by their terms which are 14 days from start of cancellation request. The kicker is that within that 14 days a subscription top up payment will be taken of 36euro. But it's ok, if I want to be released from the subscription immediately I can pay 6.95euro. Just to circle back to the point that I scanned a QR code on a parking payment board ,to pay for parking, and that is how I got this subscription, which of whose products I haven't used and having had the account for less than 12hours before I asked for it to be cancelled I am faced with the choice of paying 36euro and waiting out the 14day period or paying an effective release fee of 6.95euro. Dear reader ill leave the judgement for yourself but I definitely give a one star rating.27/06/2025Just an update on my original review have been contacted by gadgetgeek offering a refund of membership fees ( which of course I never agreed to in the first place) on condition of review retraction. Actually stated in the email that the review retraction condition is necessary before refund, as in their words "unfortunately, we’ve had many instances where customers did not update their reviews after receiving credits".. go figure!
I want to give a shout out to Ahlby who is a part of the escalation team for taking the initiative to help me out with my subscription problem. Ahlby provided a swift resolution to this matter even without my persistence. The service rendered to me was commendable and exceptional.
