I scheduled a Duo Japanese Hairspa appointment for the Hague location in November 2025 for my sister and me. The advertisement was in English, and since I don’t speak much Dutch and my sister is visiting, I thought language wouldn’t be a problem. I expected a warm welcome, typical of spas, but instead, we checked in and sat next to a box of unappealing self-service tea options. Our treatment started later than expected, and the hair analysis was poorly executed. Our therapists couldn't communicate in English. It felt odd to sit silently while they examined our scalps under the microscope, but they used an app to tell us our scalps were greasy, which we already knew from the website’s advice not to wash hair before treatment, making the analysis pointless. The treatment itself was somewhat enjoyable, yet it was strange not to receive any information about the steps involved (tools used, shampoo applied, etc.). The massage was unprofessional; I’ve had much better experiences at regular hairdressers. The only redeeming features were the water fountain and the shampoos, but even those were forgettable. Overall, I feel that I wasted my money and did not enjoy the genuine spa experience with my sister that we had been looking forward to. It turned out to be just an expensive and lengthy hair wash. Additionally, we paid for drying, which I won’t even discuss. What a disappointment.

Today, I had an appointment with the company at a location in Belgium, booked online through a link in a promotional email from July 22. Upon arrival, I was told to pay full price instead of the promotional rate due to a booking error. I refused to pay and canceled the treatment, wasting both my time and the deposit.
I’m writing this to highlight a serious issue regarding how my wife and I were treated at the location, particularly by the manager, whose conduct was far from professional. We booked five sessions, and three have been canceled with just 1-2 hours’ notice. Despite these last-minute cancellations being on their end, we were never offered any refund or credit, which contradicts their policy. This double standard was already disappointing. Things escalated after the latest cancellation. We expressed our frustration over the phone, only to be accused of 'screaming' at the receptionist, which was untrue. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager dismissed our concerns and made comments like 'anyone can get sick.' She refused a refund, not due to policy, but because she noticed my negative review online. When I showed her the recorded call proving we weren't aggressive, she simply turned and walked away—an incredibly immature response for someone in a leadership role. To make matters worse, my wife was previously offered a free session in exchange for a five-star review that included a staff member’s name. This raises concerns about the authenticity of other reviews. We expected professionalism and care from a wellness brand, but what we encountered was poor treatment, retaliatory behavior for honest feedback, and a manager behaving more like a child than a customer service professional. Extremely disappointing.
