We had a disappointing rent a car experience with GO Rentals New Zealand at Christchurch Airport. We had booked a rent a car in Auckland for pickup in Christchurch and were expecting either the vehicle we booked or an upgrade. Upon arrival, we were given a downgrade, a smaller car for the same price. Without any explanation. When we insisted on receiving what we booked or something equivalent or bigger as was written in our fully paid and signed contract, we were first lied to (the car you are renting is better) which was not true and afterwards the employee lied that we booked an older year car and this one is small but new and then suddenly the manager accused us of being impolite, an accusation that was completely unfounded. Go Retals New Zealand manager was the one that was unpolite.
Instead of resolving the issue, he canceled our New Zealand rent a car contract, claiming it was no longer valid, despite us having already signed it even for the smaller worse car. They promised a full refund, but I have yet to see any of that money, leaving us unable to rent a vehicle in the meantime as bank was closed to put more money on the prepaid card and no one takes cash in New Zealand. We contacted the New Zealand police, because we thought we were getting scammed, they informed us that they noted what happened and that this is a civil matter, which means it will take time. We contacted a lawyer. In short, our holiday were ruined because of their action, and we were left stranded without a rent a car. In our opinion, it is a lack of respect for the law and the customer. We would advise others to be cautious when considering GO Rentals New Zealand for renting a car, we wouldn’t recommend it because in high season we were left without an already booked car and they did not jet return the money to us. In our opinon, Gorentals gorentals.co.nz New Zealand do not care for the customer and do not even honor the signed contract.

Brilliant all round experience, from the booking phase, through to communication received. No deposit needed to secure booking, pay at counter available and great value for $$$. We arrived in torrential downpour, the shuttle bus driver was very efficient loading the many travellers and baggage. Minimal wait time to collect keys, we had prefilled online check in. Drop off just as simple with the shuttle bus driver returning us to the airport. Well done Go Rentals - our families will certainly utilise your services in the future.
We had a fantastic experience with the rental service at the airport this week! We rented our vehicle for three days. The car was in pristine condition and the representative at the front desk made the entire process from pick up to drop off incredibly quick and easy. I will certainly choose this service for our next holiday.
The hiring process, along with the pick-up and drop-off, was outstanding, and the customer service was top-notch. The vehicle was practically new with only 22 kilometres on the clock. I strongly suggest opting for the peace of mind insurance; we encountered a bird strike on the expressway at 110 KPH, unfortunately causing a dent in the front right corner of the bonnet. Now, it’s just a matter of filling out a form online for that.
The whole experience of renting the car was seamless and provided a variety of options. The shuttle service to the international terminal was excellent, and the driver was wonderful, helping me with all my luggage! I was lucky to receive a new hybrid vehicle that was very fuel-efficient. I will choose this service again without hesitation.
