Disappointing Experience with a Recent Purchase

I recently bought two luxury watches through a platform, a GMT Master II and a Submariner. The GMT purchase was excellent, but the Submariner left much to be desired. The GMT matched the listing photos perfectly—I received exactly what I expected, with every scuff and blemish documented. However, the Submariner I received did not match the detailed photos in the listing; it had noticeable crystal chips, bracelet stretch, and worn links to the extent that pins were exposed, none of which were visible in the photos or mentioned in the description. The seller categorized it as being in 'very good' condition, which the platform defines as having little to no wear. The support team was helpful in addressing the Submariner issue, even offering a full return and refund after some back and forth. I have no complaints about their assistance. Ultimately, I decided to keep the watch with some financial concessions from them and sent it for refurbishing, which I hope to receive back in a couple of months. The one-star rating reflects the need for improvement in ensuring that the watches listed for sale are the actual items the customer will receive, rather than just representative photos. This is particularly crucial for pre-owned watches, to accurately depict any visible wear or flaws. I suggest requiring sellers to confirm whether the photographed watch is the actual item being offered and asking the authenticators to verify that the visual condition matches the listing, noting any undisclosed wear or blemishes. Currently, they only verify the subjective condition category (like 'like new,' 'very good,' etc.). A short guaranteed return policy (perhaps three business days) would encourage sellers to accurately represent the watches from the start. With these improvements, the platform could become a leading site for purchasing high-end watches in the secondary market. However, given my experience, it feels too risky at this time without those additional safeguards, which would provide greater assurance that the items photographed and listed are indeed the actual items customers will receive.

I encountered a minor issue with receiving the wire, but they went above and beyond to assist in resolving it swiftly, all while maintaining their great patience. Disappointed with My Purchase and Lack of Proper Inspection

I purchased a vintage 1972 watch from Grailzee with the expectation that it had been fully inspected and was in proper working order, as described. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The watch arrived with mechanical issues and had to be sent out for a complete overhaul, costing me over $1,000 including shipping.While Grailzee did refund their original service fee, the fact remains that the watch was not properly vetted before being sold. I specifically chose them because I expected a professional inspection process for a vintage timepiece, and that trust was misplaced.I appreciate the $250 refund of their buyers fee, but I’m still left with a costly and disappointing experience for what was supposed to be a carefully curated purchase.

I had never purchased a luxury watch online or through an app, so I was apprehensive. Once I made the decision to purchase, it was a very easy and comprehensive process. The watch was sent and the authenticity was verified, and that made me a lot more confident of my purchase. I was in communication with the employees at Grailzee and they were always very responsive. When my watch was delivered, there was a hiccup with the delivery address, but Grailzee took care of that immediately. I will 100% be using them in the future.
