Device is very useful at doing the job of routinely monitoring blood pressure. However, the range at which it will link to the phone when doing the recalibration is very short, and makes it much more complicated and time consuming than it needs to be.
My doctor asked me for a set of blood pressure readings taken over a couple of weeks and it was a real pain to remember to sit down at roughly the same times each day, take the readings with the inflatable cuff and record the results. With the Aktiia system I don't even have to think about it, I just wear the discrete bracelet all the time and each week get a full set of readings along with the summary results in the form of a PDF file that I can either print or email through to my doctor. I'm happy, my doctor's happy and I'm keeping my blood pressure under control - a real winner for everyone!
I was quite disappointed that I was unable to purchase the cuff separate from the monitor. Both had to be replaced which was very expensive. Also the wrist band is slightly too tight and I suspect this is why the monitor reads higher than it should. I have checked the readings daily with an arm cuff. Finally, it takes a long time to upload the readings and therefore does not give a continuous measurement of blood pressure.
Works really well. Only negative is the charger for the band red light flashing is so dim that I can’t see it but the charging still works fine. I am colour blind so red on black is difficult to see at low light level. 1 in 8 men are colour blind so a better solution would be any others colour led with more contrast. Green or blue would work fine.
Found the monitor gave consistently high readings compared to cuff and conventional BP monitor. Also found because the strap on the wrist monitor is so narrow it tended to irritate wrist. Ended up relying on taking more readings with conventional monitor.
Records BP ok, but only when at complete rest. Little disappointed that many are missed when simply moving the hands/arms. Also misses Reading during sleep.Experience over first 6wks, each day has an average of 4-5 missed readings out of a possible 12.
