This company is scamming their customers. Their billing system is broken and double billing and they refuse to take any action, making promises to look into it, then you never hear back from them.Its insane that such a large fraudulent operation is allowed to continue stealing money from people, the FTC needs to shut down this scam organization
This isn’t the first time we’ve had to try and make a claim with Hiscox, and on both occasions they have been completely and utterly useless.On two separate occasions we have broken a customer’s window with a stone flick from a strimmer. On both occasions, hiscox were IMPOSSIBLE to contact on the phone - you have to email them.Yes, instead of being available to speak to them to get an urgent matter sorted, you have to email them and wait for whenever the heck they decide to get back to you. You’re not allowed to pay for the damage to be repaired yourself and then submit a claim, you have to wait for them. (Sorry customers, it might get a bit draughty in the house for a while.)So we waited for a response, only to be told that we mustn’t admit fault (- I guess a stone materialised out of thin air and broke an elderly lady’s window?) and that we need to submit all correspondence between us and the customer to them blah blah blah. In the end, we just paid for the repair ourselves. How can you keep people waiting and fobbing them off with such ridiculousness? It’s embarrassing and unprofessional, and just downright inconsiderate. Needless to say, we aren’t able to go through with the claim (not that I believe for a second we would have been reimbursed by hiscox).We tried to complain and cancel our policy because it’s completely unfit for purpose, only to receive another email telling us that it’s not something they can help us with, and that we have to spend hours on the phone talking to some other person who doesn’t have a clue what they’re doing in order to cancel the policy.I really don’t know why it’s a legal requirement to have business insurance - it’s like having 1-ply toilet paper for food poisoning. Hiscox is by far the crappest of the crap.
Had this company for 4 years. Every year rates went higher and Higher. Then when I files a claim they were not helpful but detrimental. They are the worst of the worst. I went to a real insurance company that exists outside the internet State Farm. Ended up $150 cheaper a month.
What a pathetic company that cons its customers, I've seen insurance companies doing everything to grab a penny but not like them.I called on December 29th to cancel all of my policies because of business closure, they played a clever trick on me and only cancelled one of the policies, a month later I notice the charges and called again to find out they didn't cancel both the general and professional liability policies.Well I submit the request again and to date it back to 29 Dec 2023, they never took any action and kept charging me. First week of March 2024 comes and I speak to a guy who was very nice, he said he'll submit the cancellation and date it back to 12/29/23 well the next day I get the charge again.This is is March 13th, 2024 and I call again to check on the cancellation and the fraudulent charges and guess what they still tell me it hasn't been cancelled and the guy says it is now approved back to 26 Feb 2024 effective cancellation, I told him the last guys said it should date back to Dec 29th, 2023 but nothing, so they can scam you out for pennies but you don't have any value with them as a customer, never going to use them ever again!

Awful. Would not recommend at all. Business policy proved to be pointless. We had stolen goods. It was a completely legitimate claim. Didn't pay out. Hiscox used a 3rd party assessor - they used every small technicality to dispute and deny the claim. Its ruined the annual profits of the business. Don't use them. We honestly dont know how these people sleep at night.
