I have a home emergeny claim with them at this time. My family and I have been without any hotwater or heating for the last 5 days. Ive been told it will take another 2 days before they can arrange an enginner to rectify the issue. No alternaitive accommodation has been provided for the length of the issue and Hiscox have washed their hands of the issue saying i need to complain directly to their emergency cover provider.Given it will be a week since weve have heating or hot water i would have had far quicker resolution by co tacting a contractor myself.
I had to submit a claim in 2018. It took Hiscox 2 years to deal with the repairs, terrible experience of having poor works done by two different companies. They finally offered me a settlement as they were unable to finish the repairs. The costs put against the claim were way higher that they should have been, and included works which were needed due to damage caused by their ‘cowboy’ builders as well as compensation costs for the appalling service. When I cancelled my policy they took out my payment for the month after cancellation.
I have had GL and E&O policies with Hiscox for almost three years. I've made endorsements and contacted customer service for questions. Unfortunately, agents have made errors in my policies every time I call, besides the unnecessary and horrible customer service and attitude provided. The agents always sound like they are in a hurry. Today, I had it, and it's the reason why I am writing this review. I called to remove coverage from a location in my policies, and Latania, as is the norm for employees of this company, placed me on hold several times and repeated wrong information from my policies and the location I removed from coverage. Before we hung up, I asked Latania to review the changes with me, and right away, she got upset and, as usual from employees, gave me an attitude. I just wanted to ensure she made no mistakes as they had happened before. I explained that she repeated wrong information several times and that, as an insurance company and agent, she should know these are errors or possible claims on her company. I asked to speak to her supervisor, and that's when her attitude changed. Again, she placed me on hold, and after a few minutes, she said she would put my information in the system so that a supervisor could call me. Now, please keep in mind that It's not only this time or agent. It's all of them all the time. It is one of the reasons my agency does not sell Hiscox policies to our clients: to avoid filing claims with them, the lousy customer service, and the attitude of its employees. Imagine how they treat clients who are not business owners or in the insurance industry and don't understand the gravity of their errors in our policies.As a business owner, I can't worry about these risks whenever I call. So, if you read this review, I hope you decide to purchase your policy with another company that will value you as a client, as it is evident that business is not important to Hiscox.
Hiscox insurance is a fraud. They do everything possible to disregard and not respond to claims. Pls DON'T think you have insurance cover as they are only paper. To make it worse they don't respond and they don't realise how much distress they are causing. We are starting court proceedings against them. Having said that they also have ignored emails from our lawyers and only responded once. See you in court Hiscox
I have been a customer of Hiscox for years. They basically have no online tools for simple transactions/changes to your policy, such as changing the credit card that gets billed for it. I waited on hold on the dial-in number for 15 minutes, only to be disconnected automatically. These days, not having a simple online customer portal system for interacting with your product/services is absurd.
After waiting six months on my claim for damaged done to my custom double doors during a delivery from Lowes in August 2023, Hiscox made an offer today and the amount does NOT cover all expenses. As instructed, I got an estimate from two companies. I only submitted one. Only for them to tell me they will NOT pay all of it. Tell me how does a loyal customer whose door was damaged during a delivery is in any way financially responsible? That's like me damaging the other door in my set and then calling Hiscox telling them to pay for the damage I call. This is robbery and very unfair. I waited six long months only to be duped again by a company that advertises that it is so good. Please. They should close.
Hiscox Insurance for Small Businesses is a joke! We have a small Janitorial Business. We started a policy with Hiscox after being recommended to them by Farmers Insurance. A small school we clean allowed us to use their golf cart to move between buildings during cleaning. A crew member accidentally hit a closed gate after dark and damaged the cart. It was estimated by a cart repair company at $800. We immediately paid the repair and filed a claim with Hiscox at the same time. The first claims agent we spoke with said "it's a liability claim and we do not cover that because you do not have protection for your equipment. I replied it was not our cart but it was the schools cart they let us use. He said doesn't matter, any equipment they let you use is considered to be your equipment even though they own it. I disagreed and asked for a second opinion. 5 weeks later they finally called me back. A different agent said the claim was not handled properly so it was sent to her. I again explained what happened and she said yes, now I see why they sent it to me. The claim is a Property Damage Claim, not a Liability Claim. I will email you back with a decision. Lol... 5 mins later an email was sent with the claim denied. No reason was given. What a joke... no coverage for Liability and no coverage for Property Damage! Why in the world do I even need the Policy.... just one reason I guess... to make monthly payments to them to increase their Net!! Yes... we will be cancelling. DO NOT TRUST HISCOX
