Hiscox is it profoundly dishonest company at all levels. I was therefore npt at all auprosed to discover that contrary to thia websites proclamation that 88&% of the revoews submottes are glowing....upon takingbit iponn myself to read each amd every one of them....the truthj couldn't be firther from this headnote....which gives rise to a suspicion of foul play...at the very least it calls for an explanation from Hiscox thay their grubby hands are clean and played no part in this wholly misleading and false headline which bears no resemblance to the overwhemlming condemnation expressed in almoat all of the reviews in this section. As as for my experience...its fair to say ot wasnt entirely positive......it started with an accusation of fraud levelled against me . Which was quickly followed by an approach to my professional regulator (who btw were as appalled by their conduct as i was on learning of thus development ).......and why you may ask....well its all understandable really given i had the temerity to claim for the theft of my golf bags which were stiken from my car ( a sequence of events so implausable unthinkable in the collective wisdom of Hiscox's team of professional advisors that they considered the correct and measured response was to accuse me of fraudulent dealings (and in so doing libel me in writing to a third party accusing me of fraud) . To put matters in context...when i consider their conduct thereafter that was Hiscox bringing their A game... it went from bad to worse...may the Almighty dismantle that toxix company and dismembwr its corporate greed and wilful dishonesty that courses through its cancerous veins.... Amen
Had a policy with this outfit for a number of years, office got broken into and numerous items stolen, we put in the claim and it was sorted, unfortunately the following week we got hit again so had to make a second claim albeit much less as we didn't replace all the gear from the first theft. We have installed CCTV and steel gates to the premises after this. Just had an email stating they will not insure us anymore! WHAT IS THE POINT IN INSURANCE IF YOU CANNOT USE IT? You just carry on taking money from people who don't claim, bad company ethics. We now have to pay a lot more as you cancelled our insurance, THANKS
I see there are several bad reviews - but I have good good experiences.Responsive, helpful - abd said out when I did not expect. This is home - building & contents. Three claims. One was a stolen bike: paid immediately. Two of them I did not know if it was covered and was not sure about claiming at all.In both cases threy said they would consider it, discussed internally, called back the next day to say they were paying. I have had other insurers where I always felt I was arguing abd then being turned down on a technicality - this was the opposite. They are not the cheapest - but why sound money on an insurance company who refuse to pay you what is owed?
Horrible business practices, and poor customer service. I initiated a policy for which I paid over 6 months ago, and tried to revise for additional coverage. All of a sudden Hiscox decides they have "concerns" about my business - because they don't understand the nature of my particular business. However, not one representative called me back after numerous attempts to finalize the policy to explain the hold up. I had to call 3 times to get... a very patronizing agent. Her response to my statement "So what you're telling me is that although you've been insuring me for 6 months, all of a sudden the underwriter concerns and my policy is up for review at this time so I can't provide the client the required paperwork. Basically, I'm screwed". Her response, and I quote "yes that is what we're saying". Okay.
Misleading marketing. Terrible support. Rude claims department who blatantly reject claims that I confirmed would be covered multiple times with the sales rep. Late responses (or none at all). Overall a complete waste of money, pathetic experience and I can't recommend this company to any small business.
My company has been insured by Hiscox for several years. In 2020, we found ourselves in the unfortunate position of wishing to make a claim on our insurance, as two laptops belonging to a customer of ours have been lost by Hermes, the courier company. I have contacted DAS, who provide legal advice through my Hiscox insurance, and they said they could not help as laptops are excluded from compensation by Hermes’s terms and conditions which I failed to read. I then sought legal advice from another adviser, who said that Hermes had in effect waived their exclusion by agreeing to take our money for insuring the laptops in transit (we declared the contents when booking the courier). We received compensation from Hermes, NO THANKS TO DAS OR HISCOX! I have received unhelpful, conflicting, and at times patronising emails from Andrew Galloway on behalf of Hiscox, and I still believe that the loss of those laptops fell within what is covered by my insurance. Surely if I have been negligent in not reading Hermes’s terms and conditions, then it is covered by my public liability insurance. But Hiscox wriggled their way out of paying any compensation to us. Beware!
Do not use this insurer.Failed to pay valid claims and is drawing out the process of a valid appeal so the businesses involve go outside of business.Getting employees to leave glowing reviews is up there with some shady tactics. Who feels that passionately about taking out insurance they leave glowing reviews like you’ve had, all in a couple of days?Stay away.
