We have received the most appalling service from Hiscox. After a horrific house fire, in which my son aged 17 was at home and caught within the fire, we made a claim through our House Insurance with Hiscox. We have had months, in fact, over a year of hell with Hiscox ever since the day of the fire, until now when we have been denied our full claim. What has made things even worse is that when our belongings were returned after a year we had other people's belongings including a wallet with someone else's ID and cash in it. We had clothes and bedding belonging to others. It was horrific. We have lost thousands in damaged and ruined items which were in the house during the fire, we have had to argue and fight to have our house restored and re-built and even when I have now made an official complaint the Customer Services team, they have done nothing to help, even when they promised they would look into the claim and agreed that this should not be a "negotiation" and that claims should be honoured. After just over 2 weeks of "reviewing the claim" they have done nothing to change the final settlement claim. This has made it even worse in my mind as they agreed with everything I had said but refused to pay the claim. Do not believe their Claims Promise on their website - it is simply not true. Look for a different insurer. Their suppliers of storage and also surveyors were very low quality and if we had not have appointed our own loss assessor, we would have been left with a house still smelling of the fire, as are all of the contents which they are now refusing to pay out for. I cannot recommend more to look for different insurers. We will continue our fight and go to the Ombudsman now.
Hiscox made the online process a breeze! They are great at explaining the coverage, ask the questions to fine tune the coverage and strive to be transparent in all ways. Great experience! They are my insurance company to protect my photography business.
