Review Time
Extremely poor service and systems, ordered two items on separate occasions last year, hired contractors to do the work... the equipment on both occasions didn't arrive and then HSS tried to charge me a collection fee. I raised a complaint in June 2025 and it was ignored. I had no response, no feedback, no refunds, absolutely zero assistance.
By far the worst service from a UK company. Hopefully they close down and no one else has to suffer their appalling standards of service.
I hired a carpet cleaner for one day - when you book, you are not able to pick a time for the delivery, so I called early in the morning to check the ETA, I spoke to a gentleman who told me he is going to check and let me know. After 10 minutes he called back and let me know the time, the delivery was accurate and was all good.
At the end of the day I had an issue with the cleaner, so the next morning I reported it first thing in the morning and also wanted to exted the hire for an extra day due to this issue. A lady told me to get advice from Speedie, their contractor - when I phoned them and explained, they advised that it will be replaced but I need to arrange it with HSS. When I've done that I was told to extend the hire for an extra day and they will replace the machine and refund the money.
The next day I called again to find out what is going to happen, but after being on hold I was told I'll get a call back. Then a guy from Speedie turned up and collected the faulty machine. I phoned HSS to ask what is the plan and an angry person told me he will phone me back once spoken to Speedie.
And still waiting... Unfortunately I took these days off work to clean the carpet and surprise the miss, but I ended up renting for an extra day and not being able to use it.
I would leave 0 stars if possible. I have been trying to arrange the collection of a piece of equipment since December, but the team has repeatedly ignored my instructions. This has left me questioning whether they actually intend to collect their equipment at all.
To make matters worse, the only communication I have received has been requests for payment for extended hire, charges that have arisen purely because they failed to follow the agreed collection instructions.
Very frustrating experience, do not use these guys.
Orderd a hot air gun for collection from stockton. Recived an email stating it would be ready to collect 19/02 my engineer went to collect to be told stockton branch dont have it middlesbrough do so i sent my engineer there. Then to find out middlesbrough branch didnt have the product. Rang the office to be told Sunderland have it so i sent my engineer then recived a phone call stating sunderland didnt have it on the shelf and were expexting it on TNT before 5pm. Its 10.45am my engineer was meant to be on site for 9am i have to now ring my customer who has taken a day off work to re book the appioment. Find my engineer work so he gets paid for the day. I have wasted feul time andc effort. This is simply not good enough......How can i be told it here then there ect for it not to be shocking!!!
Zero if I could give it. One of the products I hired did not work and when I dropped off the items they were not checked back in so a week later I’m still paying for them.
No answer to emails and still trying to stop them taking money…
I rented a floor sander and mistakenly thought it was from the company I usually use, but it turned out to be from a different provider. When booking online, it mentioned that unused sanding sheets could be returned, but I was informed otherwise when I picked up the sander. I also ordered four dust bags but only received one, as they claimed they were out of stock. The sander broke on the first day, and when I contacted the rental service, I was told replacements wouldn't be available until Monday or Tuesday. They promised to follow up, but I never heard back. I ended up patching the bag with tape to finish my project. I returned all items on time, even a day early, yet I keep receiving emails about contract extensions and daily charges for the RCD that I returned with the sander. I reached out to them, and they confirmed in writing that the items were returned. I also contacted the original company, but they haven't resolved the issue, and I'm still being billed for the returned item. Overall, the customer service has been very poor, and I'm frustrated with the unauthorized daily charges to my account. I'm considering contacting my bank to see if this is a violation of any regulations.

I ordered a floor tile stripper that arrived without the necessary transformer and cable. I went to the nearest location to get one, but it didn’t fit, forcing us to do the entire job manually. Despite renting it for two days, it remains unused and hasn’t been picked up as scheduled. There seems to be confusion with the paperwork related to my order.
