Put a tin of quick dry satin paint. Soon as the brush touched the wood the paint went dry making it impossible to spread without leaving lines. Have used their oil based paints too, not very good. However Johnstones emulsion is a lot better.
We purchased this paint for the bedroom and booked the decorator to come and do the job and unfortunately this paint is awful and looks dreadful even after four coats. The painter feels bad for not being able to do a good job, it’s not his fault but I feel let down and this has been costly. I wish I had read the reviews first, even if it meant ditching it and getting a tin elsewhere.
Bought the Johnstones bathroom emulsion paint, the smell has been awful, it needs a second coat and just don't think I could stand the smell. So strong. Have.put onions in the room and sprayed odour air freshener. Only bought it a.couple weeks.ago , so was used last week for the first time. I know paint can smell but this has been bad.
What the hell has happened to Johnson’s decorating centre York Clifton Moor branch, customer service non existent! No help no advice, rude, just ripped me off and sold me the most expensive tin of paint instead of normal Matt emulsion!!Lost my custom
I've used Johnstone's paint for years and always found it really good however this time round it's been a disaster. I bought Johnstone's wood and metal paint satin in manhattan sky to revamp a few large pieces of furniture (as I've done many time's before). After throughly cleaning and lightly sanding I applied 2 coats of Zinsser B.I.N and then started to paint. The initial coat went on patchy and streaky, hardly leaving any paint on the pieces, cut to 4 coats later and I give up, it's still the same, I can still see the primer coming through and every brush stroke, it just won't level, there's light and dark area's, some shiny, some matt. The paint has no viscosity and smells so so bad. I've no idea what Johnstone's have done to their paint but it's not good and this experience has completely turned me off ever buying their paint again. Also to note, the paint colour was supposed to be a cool grey, it's not, it's actually blue and looks nothing like the images. There's no point in complaining to them as they obviously don't care about their customers judging by the reviews and lack of customer care. How they're still in business I don't know.I returned the paint to my local Woodies, who were absolutely fantastic. I exchanged it for Dulux, two coats later and the problem has been rectified.
Wish I had found these reviews before I used Johnstones Silk Emulsion for the first time. It is dreadful paint. It pulls off the wall with a second stroke of the brush, dries patchy, and marks with the slightest touch, caught it with my nail when putting up curtain pole and the paint has come off to the original colour. Used a roller first and hardly any paint stayed on the wall. Changed to a paint pad, and still the paint pulled off, watered down the 3rd and 4th coats, to try to hide the patchy finish. Dreadful and disappointing finish for all the hard work.
I have been choosing paints to redecorate the entire house after renovations. This has involved a couple of trips to the johnstones paint branch in Bracknell. And the experience has renewed my faith in good customer service. Mandy the lady who has helped me on both occasions has been fantastic. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic and genuinely willing to help. Brilliant, well done.
Rude, abrupt salesperson in Reading store. Inadvertently strayed into a Staff Only section - marked by a thin black and yellow strip of tape on the floor. The saleswoman shouted, "Excuse me! That is a staff only area. You won't understand!" This was in front of another customer. I left immediately.
