I bought 5ltr of the Pure Brilliant White Soft Sheen and painted a large wall on the stairway. Before too long it started blistering and dried with many hundreds of bubbles. The previously painted surface had been cleaned and was free of grease etc. Johnstones couldn't have been more akward and didn't want to know! I rubbed down the walls and sanded all the blistering, but recoating the Johnstone's area with the same paint and another area with a matt paint, and they both blistered. Trying another manufacturers paint on an adjacent wall (same original surface) and it was fine.I won't be using Johnstone's again, and suggest you do a small area test first, before completing the job. What was really annoying, was the attitude of the manufacturer.
Bought this from B&M.I have used Johnstone paints before and have had no problems with coverage but this recent batch is probably as bad as anything I've used before. It looks as if it is going to take at least 3 coats to cover light grey. Cutting in is a nightmare as it is no better than rolling. Very disappointed as I thought they had a reasonably good reputation.
