Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing the paint....... absolutely shocking quality. Used Steel Smoke silk to paint over pale pink wall. Took 3 coats to cover the wall. Also, when I was removing the (low tack) masking tape, the paint (more like a layer of plastic) started also coming off the wall. Absolutely fuming.....never had anything like this with Dulux
Oh my word! What a paint, what a colour! It is absolutely perfect and went on a dream with just two coats! We paid £20 for a huge 10L tub from Argos! What a bargain :) The colour is such a lovely cool yet warm undertoned off white, creamish grey/ beige (best way I can describe it) I have SO many complements on this colour! If I could share a picture I absolutely would! (We are using it in our hall too) 😃 10***
Just bought Johnstones Silk Magnolia emulsion. The first coat was totally shocking! It was almost translucent. After the second coat I’d say it’ll take four coats to make the job look presentable. I’ll stick to Dulux in the future, one coat is usually good enough with that. So disappointed with Johnstones.
Purchased Dulux vinyl White emulsion for ceilings and Johnstone's magnolia vinyl emulsion for the walls. The Dulux was excellent and covered in two coats. The Johnstone's paint was a nightmare. Was painting over cream walls and just wouldn't cover. Left streaks and dried really badly even after 3 coat's!!!So went out and bought some Dulux emulsion and covered excellent in one coat!My father has been decorator for over 40 years and says he has never seen such a poor quality paint with Johnstone's Will never buy it again creates a whole lot of wasted time and money. The Johnstone's paint ended up in the bin. Best place for it!
I am a professional Builder / Decorator with 45 years experience in all aspects of the trade. I have just recently purchased a tin of Johnstone s interior wood and metal satin paint. it is not fit for purpose it just forms a skin over, and leaving with brush marks, no doubt organized and made by Accountants probably cheap to make. I think the product is water based, it is a disaster and will not be environmentally friendly as most tins will end up in the skip and then to land fill.Shame on you Chairman and Directors At Johnstone s
I've used Johnstones emulsion paints for years and always been pleased with them - until now. I was unable to obtain the colour I needed in Silk version so instead bought the new Washable Matt. This is the worst paint I have ever worked with in my long life! It's very thick and dries very quickly, so that within less than half a minute if you brush over a piece you've already painted it wrinkles up into bobbles and ridges, which are then impossible to smooth out. I contacted Johnstones about this and they suggested thinning with 20% water - which I tried but it didn't make any difference (possibly it was even worse). They also said it's not suitable for painting over existing emulsion, matt or silk! What?! Surely this is what people want an emulsion for? It's not clear on the tin that this is not a normal emulsion and has very different properties. Very frustrating and disappointing. I shall continue to use the other versions of Johnstones emulsion but advise avoiding the Washable Matt at all cost.
have bought a jonstone chalk paint which drys very patchy bought a johnston "ONE COAT MISSION IMPOSSIBLE" SATIN GLOSSDOESNT DO WHAT IS SAYS ON THE TIN should be entered for the olympics as it runs and runs and runsand it doesnt cover properly , so u spend triple time wiping drips and having to recoat and recoat also bought a johnson white satin gloss WHICH I WILL NOT EVEN OPEN and try. take note johnston paints IT IS NOT WORLD WAR TIME in britain ,paint has come a long way since 1940s SO WHY OH WHY ARE YOU SELLING THESE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE PRODUCTS . PS going back to the shop i bought them in if i can find the receipt
I am furious and extremely upset! I've Just paid a fortune for a decorator to paint my 2 story hallway in Johnstones Acrylic durable Matt which I was recommended to buy as I have young children. Apparently it can be wiped or even scrubbed!! Well even a light wipe has left lightened patches which I was horrified to discover one day when the light shone through the front door. I'm a single Mum and it took a year to save the money to get it done as it was too big a job for me!! Johnstones how am I supposed to get this redone with no money left!!!!!!!!?????? 😡
