Am I a victim of a scam? I ordered a book as a Christmas gift on January 7th. The website indicated that the cutoff for Christmas deliveries in the UK was December 15th. Now it's December 31st, 2025, and I still haven't received the item or the refund I requested. I reached out to the support team via email, but their response stated they would be unavailable until January 5th. I fear that I may have been scammed.

Living and working in the region, we are truly surprised that for the second edition in a row, this guide completely overlooks one of the area's top-rated attractions. Just a boat ride away, it is highly praised online, yet it’s absent in the guide. Meanwhile, it still lists outdated guesthouses and incorrect information. It feels more like AI-generated content than on-the-ground research. Travelers relying solely on this guide will miss vital aspects of the area. We had provided feedback multiple times prior, but it was ignored. I cannot recommend it.
Once useful guidebooks, now disappointing. I regret purchasing the guidebook for the region. It feels almost worthless. The same goes for the latest edition for another destination, which I also regret buying. There’s little to no practical advice. It’s sad to see the quality decline.
Before a trip, the excitement often starts with getting a travel guide. However, after my recent experience, that excitement will have to be saved for a different guide. The new format makes it hard to find nice restaurants, cafes, or accommodations. The internet doesn’t provide unbiased, reliable reviews. The guide now offers basic information that can easily be found online. It seems like a cost-cutting measure rather than a genuine travel resource.
The new format is visually appealing and may generate more excitement about a destination compared to the previous version. However, it serves a different purpose. This guide is fun 'before' the trip, but not useful while traveling. So much information has been cut that it’s better to leave these guides at home. I used to enjoy these guides, but I won't be purchasing the new version. I hope they consider releasing two editions: one for planning and one for on-the-road use!
