Lyca Mobile is hands down the worst mobile provider I have ever used. My service has been cut off twice with my phone showing “Emergency calls only” for absolutely no reason. No warning. No explanation. Nothing. I couldn’t call anyone, couldn’t send texts — completely useless.
What’s the point of paying for a mobile service that just randomly stops working? It’s beyond incompetent. Being left unable to contact family, friends, or anyone important is unacceptable. This isn’t a minor glitch — this is basic functionality that they’ve failed at twice.
Customer service is no help, and there’s zero reliability. It feels like they take your money and then disappear when something goes wrong. If you need a phone that actually works, avoid Lyca Mobile at all costs. An absolute joke of a company.
Do NOT choose this provider! The SIM card itself is alright, although if you run into any problems during your plan, then it likely will never be solved! The customer service team is unfriendly, and apparently merely has the authority to escalate your concern but not solve the issue or even get in contact with the team responsible for solving the issue. When I asked to speak to their Customer Support team, they told me: "Sorry, they do not have a phone number. My hands are also tied, as I also cannot contact the Customer Support team."
I have not had phone or mobile data service for more than 2 months after purchasing a year long plan, and was forced to purchase a replacement SIM card from a different provider. I have emailed them multiple times during the past 3 months, each time assured that I would receive a response from their Customer Support team within "5-7 business" days, however, they have taken over 10 business days (excluding weekends!) on every occasion. If you do not actively call their customer service team to follow up on the email, you will only receive a response after 21 days, to my dismay.
If any problems occur in the duration of your plan, then expect your problem to remain unsolved until you find a new provider.
I purchased an eSIM from Lyca Mobile UK in April 2025 while in London. I no longer have access to the phone number, yet my account is still active and I am being charged for a service I cannot use.
I have contacted customer support multiple times without help, filed a formal complaint via email, and already contacted Ofcom.
I have also instructed my bank to revoke recurring payments and will initiate a chargeback if charges continue.
Lyca Mobile UK must close my account and cancel all payments immediately.
Thank you Yureka Govindaraj. Thanks to your intervention and assistance, after I landed in Bulgaria and turned on my phone, I realised that I had a normal connection again and could use my phone normally. I didn't even realise when you fixed the problem. You did it during my flight. Thank you.
I will avoid Lycamobile simply because, I went on their website and I bought a 30 days plan, that was in December 2025 and since then I am being charged with £5 a month despide the fact that I am not longer using that SIM. I called them and this guy said that, he can't do anything about it, because I no longer have the SIM so, I can't give him some code from the back of it.
JUST AVOID THEM !!
Lyca is a scam I think personally, after you have an account its almost impossible to cancel your monthly rolling, they say you can on the website but no, then you cancel your payment card and they keep the service running anyway and send threatening letters to get people around your house for the £25.
Lycamobile employs predatory "sludge tactics" to trap you in auto-renewals. I moved out of the UK 18 months ago and submitted a formal cancellation request with full proof of ownership (Order IDs, Activation Dates, reference numbers). Instead of cancelling, their automated systems demand impossible information—like the 19-digit ICCID from a physical SIM card I no longer possess—just to create an artificial barrier to exit.
This is a direct violation of Ofcom General Condition C1, which strictly prohibits disincentives to cancelling. They refuse to issue a Deadlock letter, so I have unilaterally declared Deadlock and reported them to the CISAS Ombudsman and Ofcom, whilst instructing my bank to block their Continuous Payment Authority. Avoid this company at all costs; they will hold your card details hostage.
My phone broke and I do not have access to my esim anymore, so requested a sim swap online. It has now been 3 days and the sim swap has not worked. I called 4 times, every time I had someone incredibly condescending on the phone who refused to let me finish and clearly explain. They rushed me to do processes I have never done and without properly explaining how to. I did every possible verification, yet they needed me to say my top 2 used numbers. The phone is only ever used for calling around 6 times a year, and I never call personal contacts - with a broken phone, how am I supposed to answer this question? There is no workaround, you have to answer this desite having already verified your name, DOB, email (via PIN), ICCID, both (old and new) number, last top-up date and top-up amount. The agents say stuff that is incorrect (i.e. that there was a reference number when SIM swap was requested when there is not). Never been on the phone with such incredibly impolite people. The issue is still not sorted, and I am unsure how to change my number over and how to ever get back the money in the account for my old number. Beware of losing money. Go with a different provider and save yourself the frustration.
Update: changed to 3 stars as lycamobile customer service reached out to me and sorted the issue within a day, thanks to Dhatchayani.
Do not move to Lycamobile!
They do not have any cancel auto renewal button. The billing date and contract starting date are different. It makes me feel confused and then even I leave them with PAC code. They still charge me the next month as my billing cycle is valid before leave.
A big waste of time going to Lyca. They don’t do WiFi calling, which is not at all obvious. I spent a long time trying to work it out. Emailing support didn’t work (no response still after 8 days). Going via chatbot was useless, no chance to speak to an agent and it suggested WiFi calling was possible. Only after phoning up was told it wasn’t possible.
As I need to get a new phone contract and cancel within the 14 days, I put my cancellation request in but specifically requested they keep my account live until the 14 days were up. However, this was ignored and they’ve turned off my account early leaving me and wife with no phones until our new SIM cards arrive.
Just a useless, pointless and time wasting exercise.
