We drove 3 hours for a special 7pm reservation on Saturday, March 15, 2026, excited for our first time at The Melting Pot in Albuquerque as a family. My wife had fond memories from a location years ago, and we built this up as a highlight. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had.
From the start, red flags appeared: the hostess casually mentioned the previous table had abruptly left without explanation. We were seated but waited a full 20 minutes before our server even approached. As first-timers, the menu was confusing, and she offered zero guidance— we actually had to correct her on basics when finally placing our order after ~40 minutes at the table. She skipped key choices like cooking style and salad type, and her English was limited, making communication difficult.
Service was consistently absent throughout our 4-course meal. We saw her only 4 times total: once to take the order, and three times briefly while running food (one course came from someone else). Drinks sat empty the entire night—we had to go to the bar ourselves for refills, including our son's water. Another nearby table was completely neglected and left early, even with rose petals set up for what looked like a special occasion.
Food arrived slowly (30+ minutes between courses), portions felt small, the salad was wilted and sad-looking, and the final chocolate fondue wasn't even melted properly—we had to whisk it ourselves to salvage dessert. The restaurant was surrounded by dirty tables with no visible bussers.
This is positioned as fine dining with a ~$220 bill (before tip), yet we felt neglected, unwanted, and like an inconvenience. The automatic kitchen gratuity added (~$5.80) felt insulting given the complete lack of service.
When we asked for the manager at the end, the hostess brought the server back instead for an awkward confrontation while we paid. No manager ever appeared. After reading other reviews mentioning similar unhelpful or argumentative interactions with the GM, we didn't bother following up.
The food has potential if executed well, but the service was abysmal and ruined what should have been a memorable night. I hope corporate takes this seriously—multiple tables walking out in one evening isn't sustainable. We won't be returning.

The owner is rude food is great

The owner is rude food is great. H however we walked in 10 of us plus a baby seat and the owner went out spastic saying well you’re gonna have to wait and I said I understand that you guys don’t take reservation so you’re gonna have to wait to have a seat over there. Food is good servers are good, but the owner is just an jerk

Astronomical prices..

Had it not been for the astronomical prices, this would have been a 5 star review. The restaurant in Thousand Oaks has a good atmosphere and the staff were very attentive. We enjoyed the experience as it kept our kids engaged and conversation flowing. However, the prices are simply not justifiable.

I have been frequenting The Melting Pot…

I have been frequenting The Melting Pot since around 2013. I’m from Alabama where I started going to the location in Birmingham, then Huntsville— yet now we have no more locations within the state. My closest option is The Melting Pot in Kennesaw GA. Big shout out to Brandy, the manager, Bradley, and Ryan who all gave me exceptional service. You made my three-hour drive totally worth it. Truly appreciate you!!!
