According to my experience, the Chat helps you with Software Problems, not questions about understanding the tax code. Perhaps that should be made clear to users. I had one problem with the planning option. A simulation for 2025 was made using my 2024 software without changing name of the document, which I didn’t notice. Now I don’t have the original submission for2024 in My Previous Documents file. Otherwise everything went smoothly. Thank you.
I like the speed of response, online software is generally clear for use, the premium option for uploading capital gains saves a lot of time, and of course having an accountant review everything for accuracy is worth it. However, the monetization of everything has shifted over the years I've been using MyExpat. The in software explanations of items are not so helpful and ChatGPT gave me better planning advice and explanations than the 'Planning' section. I'm not paying 100 EUR for 30 minutes of answers to general questions I can find online in 5 minutes. The upsell on planning didn't engage me. I felt there was better customer service several years ago. Perhaps scaling has brought in a lot of customers now. My recent experience made me look around for other options in the expat tax space whereas before I was loyal to MyExpat.
