Review Time
I had a disappointing experience with the online savings account. Setting up recurring transfers is not an option; I have to transfer money manually each time. Mobile check deposits aren't available, and there's no chat support—only phone calls. The first support representative I spoke to was unhelpful regarding recurring transfers, while the second one who assisted with closing my account was polite. Overall, this service was a waste of my time, and I would prefer a different account, even if it offers slightly lower interest but with better features.
Logging in is impossible without the app, and if the app fails, you can't even check your balance. Even the support line insists you use the app before getting assistance, although you'll endure a long wait in silence. Accessing your account via a browser isn't an option, and the app fails to reach the login screen. This issue prevents me from accessing my own funds. I requested to close my account. Customer support cannot provide confirmation of what was discussed during the call, nor can they confirm the account closure. There's no way to escalate the issue to someone who can ensure that your account is properly closed. The day after the support call, I received an email stating my account "will remain open" despite my closure request. While most agents are polite, they lack the authority to send any confirmation via email or text. No other financial institution offers such a frustrating experience. Some of their tactics to obscure processes seem downright malicious, and they show no remorse. The high-yield savings account is merely bait to lure you into a subpar service with inadequate support (though the agents themselves are not to blame; they simply lack the necessary tools). Most support agents appear to be outsourced.
If I could rate this lower, I absolutely would. I strongly advise against using this online bank. The experience left me feeling as though I was being scammed. I halted my application when it requested my Real ID and a photo of my social security card again, which struck me as suspicious. I couldn't delete my application, despite having already provided my ID and social security information in a previous process. When I reached out to customer service to request the deletion of my incomplete application, the representative was polite but insisted I had to upload those documents and complete the application to create a secure online ID before they could cancel my account. What?! I asked to escalate my complaint, but the representative refused. I warned them that I would share my experience on social media to alert others about this potentially fraudulent bank. I regret not reading the other reviews beforehand. I'm relieved I didn't transfer any funds after seeing the terrible feedback. There are plenty of other online banks worth researching instead of this one. I initially trusted the recommendations from certain financial review platforms, but I will now inform them to review the negative experiences shared on Trust Pilot. I'm genuinely concerned about my personal information being compromised and hope I don't fall victim to identity theft.
It took 3 weeks from when I transferred money to get it into the account. That was enough for me. I tried to transfer my money back out as soon as it was in there and it blocks my account every time I do. I have spoken with 3 people at Openbank and they all claim there is nobody there that can help me get my account restored and my money out. They are holding $40,000 of my money and I can't touch it. Not sure how this is even legal.
Good high interest, but I just want to update my phone number and it’s taking forever. They told me they will call me back in a week but did not and now they are telling 3 more business days. I don’t understand this difficulty to change my phone number. It’s ridiculous. The transfers take a long time too. I really they improve and things won’t get worst.
Every time I try to transfer a large amount of money out of the bank, they canceled my transfer, even though I am under their daily transfer limit. It makes me appear unprofessional to the people I am working with. I am closing this bank account.
My regular bank shows money moved into my Openbank account but it doesn't reflect on their side and when I try to check the transfer history it shows an error. I can't follow my transfer and they are not open except during business hours. They need to have a more reliable system and 24 hour customer support in emergencies when there is an issue. Banking shouldn't be stressful.
