I would highly recommend Ottonova. I had a very smooth experience with Ottonova right from the first conversation I had with signing up. Registering was relatively simple with an English-speaking agent on the telephone guiding me through the registration form, and answering my many questions. Whilst I was in Germany, I was unfortunately admitted to hospital and required surgery. Ottonova's cover on the First Class Expat tariff allowed me to have a private room and the chief surgeon looking after me. All my hospital and medication claims were paid in full and dealt with directly between the hospital and Ottonova. I also visited the dentist, optician and other doctors during my time in Germany. I was able to book these appointments easily through the online Concierge chat (English speakers are available) who are very responsive. My claims for these consultations and the medication were in almost all cases paid out in full (with the exception of doctor visits which is 90% of the invoice amount). Submitting a claim was very simple, using the photo function on the Ottonova app on my mobile phone to take photos of the relevant invoices etc. Payment was generally made within a few days of submitting the invoice, receipt and/or prescription. The cost of the tariff was relatively cheap and cheaper than the public health insurance options, at least in my circumstances. The other private health insurers did not have readily-available English speakers unlike Ottonova.
Ottonova is doing things different and thereby much better. The setup as a digital health insurance was the main reason for me to switch to ottonova. All data and documents are available in the app, digital doctors visit possible, easy handling of bills and very fast money transfer (I received the money on the next day after uploading the invoice). Communication with ottonova was so far always easy, friendly and helpful. I am very happy!
I am now a happy customer for 10 months.Ottonova provided me with all the information I needed for the decision and the application process was quick and without issues.All documents were uploaded and accessible online..I moved for my job to Germany, so i had no existing ties with the local insurance landscape. Especially for finding new doctors and questions about the German health system, the concierge service was absolutely brilliant!The app helps me to keep track of my past appointments and allows me quick access to all documents.Money arrived latest 2 workdays after the upload of a bill - usually weeks before the payment is due!So far, they exceeded my expectations in terms of service - I gladly recommend this insurance
Hello,in my previous private health insurance I had no real clue of what I was actually paying for and wasn't really using much of what was offered. The reason for that was the poor communication and intransparency of the insurance.Now that I am with ottonova, this has changed. I am fully aware of all services ottonova is offering and what I am paying for. Communication with the service team is clear, also available and easily understandable. Also the additional features/services of the digital doctors appointment or doctors appointment booking (the concierge) are fantastic.Hence, since I am with ottonova I am actually feeling that the money I am spending on my private health insurance is worth it and I am well covered with ottonova.Best regardsAlex
