Ottonova is very new to this business (they acknowledge this themselves) and it really shows up in interactions.In my initial conversations with them, I was very surprised to see that their so called "medical specialist" was not aware of basic maladies, had trouble understanding English - despite being billed as an English speaking service for expats - and asked juvenile questions that anyone with very basic medical background should already know (like being an engineer and asking customers to explain gravity to you). 2 stars because of the friendly initial conversation, everything to follow was pretty abysmal.I would not trust my health in the hands of such amateurs. I did not follow up with them after that call (neither did they), and I chose to go with a more established private insurance provider. Would recommend you do the same.
crap! the conditions are definitely not comparable to other insurance companies in Germany. Ottonova pretends to be open minded for expats but does not offer insurance conditions in english...if you talk to germans and german „maklers“ everybody will tell you its a crap startup in a very hard market - you are stuck and cant get out!
Isabel has made the whole onboarding so so easy for me. She is super professional, knowledgeable on all of the important (and scary) health insurance topics and generally just a cheerful happy person.I am super super happy with the process thus far. I have my consultation with the health underwriter next week and I am 95% certain that I will go ahead and switch from TK to Ottonova!
Took all my details and denied to insure me because I had Malaria 6 years ago. After I was denied, they locked me out of my account and nobody gives me an answer to why? Their answer is that their system tell them that. Your system is built by your team and you should know exactly why. I am surprised a health insurance company is allowed to discriminate like this. I hope someone will give me an answer.
I was only with Ottonova for 4 months, as it became apparent due to my ownership of a company that I would need to go with a different German healthcare provider. I have never had to use their insurance for a medical appointment and cannot comment on this experience, however I can say the following: I found their customer service, onboarding process and app to all be exceptional. The dual language customer service experience has been exceptional, and managing all documentation through their app has been incredibly intuitive and user-friendly. Even when I had to cancel and change providers, they were incredibly helpful and friendly.If my experience of their customer service represents what it is like to have them as an insurer for a longer period, I could only recommend them for Expats. Very great service!
Though I’m not fully signed up yet with Ottonova, I must say I’m very satisfied with the service rendered. Especially when it comes to insurances, customer service is a key factor that makes or breaks brand loyalty. Despite the small challenges faced (and thrown at them) while the onboarding process, I’m happy that the customer service rendered has been thorough and responsive. What I truly appreciate is how reliable they were in ensuring that they (kudos to Nadine!) see to and through the matter until it gets resolved. Also really appreciate that they provided me with timely required feedback. This is a great example about how companies should demonstrate and build customers’ trust. Please keep up the good work and I hope to continue to receive good or even better service as I become an official customer. Thanks! Truly a recommend!
