This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at an eye doctor—and I’ve been to many eye doctors.
I showed up with insurance and was charged over $100 upfront before any exams which was an exam for glasses and contacts. I have never had to pay before an appointment, especially not that much when my insurance typically covers at least most of the exam.
After the exam, I was directed to look at glasses but had to practically beg for assistance. When I finally received help from Kim Woods, I felt rushed and pushed toward a pair of metal frames that didn’t suit me. I was told they would be saved to my profile, but I made it clear I wanted to come back with my partner before making a final decision.
On my second visit, I returned with my partner and selected a completely different pair—plastic frames. However, when I came back weeks later to pick up my glasses, they had ordered the original metal frames instead. When I brought this up, I was told those were the frames I chose, which made me feel dismissed and like my concerns weren’t being taken seriously.
After confirming with my partner that we had indeed chosen the plastic frames, I had to return again to correct their mistake. Despite the error being on their end, I waited two hours for assistance. I was initially told I wouldn’t have to pay anything additional to fix the issue, but days later I received a call saying I owed over $150 for new lenses.
In total, I ended up paying around $600 for glasses—even with insurance—due to repeated errors on their part.
To make matters worse, when I went in to pick up my corrected glasses, I asked for my contact lens prescription. I was told—nearly three months after my initial visit—that it had never been finalized and they had forgotten to follow up with me.
After four visits, I finally have the glasses I wanted, but the entire process was frustrating, disorganized, and unnecessarily expensive. I’ve had significantly better experiences at smaller offices with fewer staff.
I would not recommend this location based on my experience.

⭐ 1-Star ReviewI’ve been going to Pearle Vision for over 10 years, but the last 4 years have been nothing but frustrating. Four years ago, they had to remake my glasses twice—and I still couldn’t see. I finally took my prescription to another provider, and that lab made perfect glasses on the first try. I’m still using those glasses today. Two years ago, I didn’t even bother having Pearle Vision make my glasses. I took the prescription elsewhere again and had no issues. This past year, I decided to give them one more chance. Big mistake.12/20: Had my eye exam12/26: Picked up my new glasses — I could not see interstate street signs.01/10: They made me come back for another exam because the original prescription they gave me was incorrect. Had I taken that bad prescription to another lab, I would have been stuck with unusable glasses. They rewrote the prescription and made the glasses again.01/17: Picked up the “corrected” glasses — better, but I still cannot see at night.I also tried transition lenses based on their recommendation. I was told they get dark enough that I wouldn’t need sunglasses. That was absolutely not true. Even in full sunlight, you can still see my eye color through them. I had to buy separate sunglasses to wear over them. When they remade the glasses the second time, they changed the transition color from dark green to dark gray (supposedly the darkest option), but they still don’t get dark.On 01/24, I went back to explain that I still couldn’t see clearly, especially at night. A staff member reminded me I only paid $468 — ignoring the fact my insurance paid another $500. That’s about $1,000 total for glasses I cannot use.She told me they could remove the transition lenses or schedule another exam, but both would be at my expense because it was past 30 days — even though it was NOT 30 days from when the “corrected” glasses were made.So here I am with $1,000 glasses I can’t use, having to rely on my 4-year-old glasses made by a completely different lab just to drive safely at night.Pearle Vision clearly does not stand behind their work. Their lab has repeatedly failed, their customer service was dismissive, and they chose not to make things right even when the errors were theirs from the start.I will never return, and I would not recommend Pearle Vision to anyone. Save your time, money, and frustration. They simply do not care about their customers—only their sales.
This is for Pearle Vision located in Somerville/Bridgewater NJZero stars if that were an option. Absolutely unacceptable experience.I had my first visit on November 21, 2025 at Pearle Vision for both glasses and contact lenses, and this has been one of the worst healthcare/customer service experiences I’ve ever had.Dr. Mohit Kapoor is extremely incompetent. He gave me an incorrect prescription, increasing my power by almost 1 full point. Trusting him, I updated my glasses and contacts at Costco, only to realize I could not see properly at all. That’s when I knew something was seriously wrong. It then took almost TWO WEEKS just to receive trial contact lenses—which were also incorrect. After calling Pearle Vision, I was scheduled for another appointment on December 15th. At that visit, the doctor admitted I could keep my old prescription, meaning I had no need to update my glasses in the first place. I had already spent over $250 unnecessarily, all because of their mistake. There was zero remorse from either the doctor or the staff. They actually made it seem like they were doing me a favor by offering a reevaluation. They ordered two pairs of trial contacts and told me they’d call when they arrived. I waited. By December 28th, I still hadn’t heard anything. When I called, they casually said they were “backlogged.” I called again on January 7, 2026, only to find out they were closed (apparently Wednesdays are a surprise closure?).On January 8, 2026, I finally received a call from Nicole saying my trial contacts were ready. I went in that evening, only to be made to wait over 20 minutes while they searched for them—because they couldn’t find them. During this time, they repeatedly questioned whether I had actually received a call. I had to show my phone call history just to prove it. Still, no apology. After 25 minutes, they finally found one pair. When I asked about the second pair, Nicole dismissed it by saying it was “just a trial.” I had to explain to them that two pairs were ordered. They searched again and found the second prescription—but not the trial lenses. I was told I’d have to come back again. At this point, I had been there over 40 minutes, on my FOURTH visit, and I was understandably frustrated. I told them they should not have called me if everything wasn’t ready. Instead of a sincere apology, I was met with a cold, dismissive attitude, including an older woman and a younger man giving me an intimidating, hostile stare for several minutes. The man then rudely asked whether I wanted to take the first pair or wait for the second—as if this situation was somehow my fault.I explained how much time and money I had wasted and said this experience would absolutely be reflected in a Google review. Only then did the woman soften slightly and offer that I could call back if the first pair didn’t work, and that they might provide a couple of additional pairs “as consolation.”As of now, my contact prescription is STILL not finalized, and I still do not have the second trial pair. This place gets **0 stars—or negative stars—**for competence, customer service, professionalism, and basic human decency. The doctor, the staff, everyone was awful. I strongly encourage anyone reading this to go literally anywhere else for eye care.
Me and my wife buy 2 pair of glasses every year . This year we went to the Pearle vision at the town center in Jacksonville fl . First our prescriptions were wrong and 3 times now we have had to take our glasses back for the lenses cracking .This last time they kept them for 5 weeks I got them back and withing 2 weeks they are cracking around the edges .
The eye exam and evaluation was excellent BUT the purchase of eye glasses was deceptive and extremely overpriced. The same or better quality glasses are available on-line and other retail outlets for less than half the cost at Pearl Vision!
My brother was visiting from Canada and his new lens' popped out of his eyeglasses, and we simply could not pop it back in. He is basically blind without his glasses. I had recently purchased my glasses at Pearl Vision so I called them to see if they could help. They said to come right in.We can't say enough good things about Christina and Liz who went out of their way to help us. They tried everything to get the lens back into the frame, but it was clear that the screw was stripped. They found a different pair of frames that worked and at a good price. They really took their time to find a frame that worked. We really appreciate their time and effort to find a solution. They also provided us with pricing for future frames and lenses, which would be cheaper than buying in Canada next time.
I've been a loyal customer of Pearle Vision at Oakwood Plaza in Hollywood, FL, and once again, I had an outstanding experience. Stephanie provided exceptional customer service, demonstrating both expertise and genuine care. She guided me through selecting the perfect lenses for two different frames, ensuring they matched my prescription perfectly. Additionally, she took the time to explore available promotions and insurance coverage to help minimize my out-of-pocket cost. Her dedication and professionalism made the entire process smooth and stress-free. I highly recommend Pearle Vision and Stephanie for anyone looking for top-notch eyewear service!
I purchased my new prescription glasses at Scarborough Town Centre and had a fantastic experience. The staff were friendly and efficient, and Hooman and Sara provided excellent assistance with my order. The entire process was smooth and quick. I highly recommend this place!
