The steak and kidney pie was truly disappointing. I noticed it mentioned 'Minced Kidney' in small print, which made me question the quality. There was no kidney flavor whatsoever, and it seemed so finely minced that it got lost in the gravy. I won't be trying this again. If this is the standard of their pies, it couldn't be worse. I recommend steering clear.
I mention being a long-time customer to highlight that this is not a one-time issue, but a consistent decline in quality. I've purchased these slices for years, especially while traveling, but the quality has noticeably dropped. Initially, there were small changes like the removal of the cardboard insert that aided in eating on the go, but the slice itself remained unchanged. Recently, however, the filling has been reduced gradually, leading to a frustrating 70/30 or 80/20 ratio of pastry to filling. It's become dry and bland. As someone who prefers familiar foods, I've kept trying these slices, hoping for improvement, only to find even less filling each time. For instance, a steak slice contained barely any steak, and a chicken and bacon slice felt like cardboard due to minimal filling. Many companies are practicing shrinkflation, but this brand stands out as a more extreme example. Other options on the market now offer better value and quality. I recognize that customers often share negative experiences more than positive ones, yet many food companies still maintain decent ratings despite that. The recent reviews echo this sentiment for a reason.
The steak and kidney pie was extremely disappointing. In small print, it mentioned 'Minced Kidney,' which raised my concerns. There was no discernible kidney flavor, and it seemed so finely minced that it got lost in the gravy. I won't be trying this again. If this is the quality of their pies, it couldn't be worse. I would advise avoiding them.
If I could give zero stars, I would. I treated myself to a minced beef and onion pie today. After cooking, it looked fine, but when I cut into it, it deflated. Where's the filling? Previously, these pies had more generous contents. What I found was mostly gristle, which was absolutely disgusting. It went straight in the bin. The company needs to address these quality issues, but even if they do, I won't be purchasing again.
Steer clear of this. The value for money is terrible. I purchased a large 'All STEAK' pie, but it might as well be labeled 'All Gristle'—only two bits of actual meat and a lot of pastry. Complete garbage and a total rip-off. I wish for the company's downfall.
The Jamaican jerk chicken pie tasted nothing like authentic jerk. They should consult a real Jamaican for guidance. I've tried six of these pies and was disappointed every time. Having enjoyed Jamaican jerk chicken and pork since 1973, I can say this is the worst imitation I've ever had. I won't waste my money again. They should remove 'Jamaican Jerk' from the title as it tarnishes its reputation.
