I took part in the Isles Ultra 2025, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. With James, Joulsy, Jacqs, Luke, Emmie, and Jimmy as our incredible crew and photographer, the journey was as well-supported as it was challenging.For anyone looking to push their limits in a setting that’s both demanding and deeply rewarding — surrounded by genuinely brilliant people — I can’t recommend it enough. I’d return in a heartbeat.
Just completed the Isles Ultra of the Outer Hebrides! What a great event. Have done a few events with Rat Race and love these small group ones the best. We were so well looked after by James, Jacq's and Jools (who I've been brilliantly looked after by before) and Emmi and Doc Luke doing such a great job, with Jimmy taking amazing photos! The group was exceptional! It was reunion for some of us that did Run Britannia in 2023 and was great o be back out on the trails with those guys, but the whole group were fab, support between each other was fantastic and I came away with new friends. Weather was a problem at times, with ferry crossings being cancelled, but James was on top of everything, and we knew going in, this could happen and there may have to be a plan b, c or beyond. We were still able to get a greats amount packed in, with additional options if we wanted them. Its a tough event, but with the support its is achievable!Felt great to be back doing a multi day event and I loved it! Thank you all
Abbi and the team were incredibly attentive, professional, kind, and full of encouragement throughout the Olympus Sea to Summit experience. Their energy and support helped carry us through a long and demanding day.At times, the instructions could have been clearer (do we have to summit as a group or as individual packs), which led to a bit of uncertainty. The accommodation was basic but functional, and served its purpose well.The event itself wasn’t a traditional race—more of a semi-competitive run/trek, with some flexibility that allowed participants to skip certain sections. Despite that, it was a true test of willpower and determination, starting at 1am and continuing through to sunset.Overall, a unique and unforgettable adventure. Thank you to the whole team!!
What a fabulous event and a fabulous crew. Well organised and lovely people. I am turning 60 next year and 18 months ago found it hard to tie my shoelaces without being out of breath. Last weekend I hiked 29km up 2500m of ascent and 7km down the next morning. The endorphins are still rushing around and we are already looking to sign up for our next event. You do need to train for these events. The only reason for not giving a full 5/5 is because the timings were such that one really did need to run where possible. Only hiking did mean the final timings for summitting were out of our reach. We would have been happy to start earlier than the runners! And the hotel beds weren’t great. The refuge bunk beds on the other hand were fabulous 😃. But overall what an amazing experience. Thank you Ratrace crew. I would highly recommend.
What an incredible event. The crew led by the amazing Abbi were hust phenomenal, worked non stop but always smiling, enthusiastic and full of encouragement. The setting was beautiful, crystal clear water, sunshine and topping up the tan. Ok no one wants to get up at 1.30am but the excitement made it worth it. The day is split into 4 sections by the different pit stops which really helps mentally with a long day on your feet. I loved it, the amazing views round every corner, the inspirational people you meet and the sunrise after a night sleeping at 2100m was incredible. My first rat race but I will definitely be back for more, huge thanks to Abbi and her team for making it an unforgettable experience.
I have done a UK events with Rat Race and they have always been great so I decided to give their Greece Sea to Summit a try. It was great. Fully tracked, great locations, great routes and great support. It is still hard. The event pushed me to my limits but I would recommend them to anyone looking for an adventure.
Gold Rush Test PilotThe trip didn’t start well as Air Canada cancelled our flight and we arrived three days later than planned. The Rat Race team took this in their stride, picked us up at the airport and slotted us seamlessly into the event. We missed two days of hiking on the Chilkoot Trail but still had an amazing adventure cycling on quality gravel bikes for two days before jumping into canoes on the River Yukon for six days to reach our final destination of Dawson City. The test pilot format means you travel in a small group with like minded folk. If you’re looking for a proper adventure book yourself onto one of the test pilot trips and help shape a future bucket list adventure.
Fantastic trip to Iceland to do the coast to coast. Super super tough event but with the rat race crew alongside, you never feel unsafe. Great organisation and just the right balance of support to enable you to create your own level of suffering. The energy and hard work of the crew is amazing. Thanks guys planning our next one already.
I had to withdraw from my booked event in 2024 and did so 2 months prior to the event date. I received a link that did not work, but had planned to rebook for the same event in 2025. I visited the stand at the Running Show to find out what was happening and she said it was best to call and they’d sort it. At the time I had just sprained my ankle so wasn’t able to train. Since then I’ve suffered with a frozen shoulder which required steroid injections and the rehab has been slow. So I’m not fit to be able to take part this year. I don’t want to put myself or event team members at risk by not being safe to attend. When I looked for a phone number there is no number, and when I emailed I was told the code (that I never received) has expired. I can’t log into my account as it has been moved and am presently over £350 out of pocket. I am not a charity able to just gift a random company that amount of money. I would have no issue with them retaining some kind of fee but to simply take £350 without providing any kind of service or product is downright unethical and goes against government guidelines regarding appropriate fees to be withheld on cancellation.I would never trust this company and will never recommend them as it’s clear that their attitude towards safety and refunds when there are issues is appalling.
