Will not use this service again

1. Vehicles are poorly maintained and slow, even with a full battery. 2. Not allowed in designated parking areas, even if they are empty, which results in extra charges. 3. Complaints go unanswered.

Very dangerous experience

These scooters are incredibly unsafe. When I provide feedback or make a complaint, it gets ignored. Half the time, the brakes don’t work properly, and even in legal riding zones, they cut out unexpectedly while in traffic. Other scooter options are far superior. Public hire schemes have great potential but need regulation to ensure safety instead of cutting corners at the expense of lives.

Inconvenient ride ending

I used a scooter to return home from work, but when trying to park, the app indicated that the nearby spots were full (despite being clear). I ended up driving around the city for 40 extra minutes, unable to end the ride, and then had to walk 3 km from where I finally found a parking spot. I contacted customer support, but after a long wait, they said they couldn’t issue a refund and offered a free 10-minute ride instead. I will definitely not use this service again. 0/10!

Could have led to serious issues

I was close to filing a formal complaint against the service, but the high filing fee made it impractical for such a minor issue. Instead, I'm sharing my experience to alert others. Late at night, with no public transport available, I rented an e-bike for what should have been a quick ride home. Upon unlocking, the bike showed a green light indicating a full battery. However, just a minute into my ride, the battery died completely. This is unrealistic if the bike had any charge, as a functional e-bike battery shouldn’t drain so quickly. Without parking stations nearby, I attempted to end the ride, but the app wouldn’t let me leave the bike outside their designated zones, even though it was unusable. This policy is absurd when the malfunction is their fault, not mine. I had to pedal this heavy e-bike for 40 minutes to reach a designated spot, turning a 15-minute ride into exhausting labor due to their faulty bike. Upon finally reaching the parking area, the dead battery prevented the bike from locking or ending the ride properly. I tried several times through the app, but nothing worked. The malfunction was theirs, yet I faced penalties for it. I had to freeze my credit card to avoid charges for this dreadful experience. The next morning, I found I was charged for an additional 10 minutes for leaving the bike "unattended." This charge is completely unfair since I parked where the app indicated and tried multiple times to conclude the ride. The fault lay entirely with their malfunctioning equipment. I reached out to their support for resolution, but there was no contact other than an AI chatbot. This seems to breach consumer protection laws requiring accessible customer support. I submitted a detailed complaint through the chatbot and waited over a month for a response. After following up repeatedly, all I received was a discount code, which feels insulting when the real issue is being wrongly charged for their equipment failure without any human support. I ultimately paid for the ride begrudgingly, but I want others to be aware of what to expect from this service. It’s best to avoid it, especially at night when you may find yourself stranded with faulty equipment and no real support.

Experience with Dott just gets worse and worse

Experience with this company gets worse and worse. They've put up the price of a standard journey by £1 again so a short hop across town is now about £3.50 compared to when first introduced which used to be about £1.50. Hardly any parking spots because they never bother to move the vehicles around any more. The stupid scan the area around you function never works because there's not enough signal to process a high resolution image in real time over the (barely) 3G connections in most areas of Bath and Bristol so this is essentially a scam to get a bit more time added to your ride while you wrestle with that and then having to take a photo.

Scam €30 Charge

I live in Algeria and have never used Dott or created a Dott account, yet a €30 charge appeared on my Visa card for a ride in Amsterdam. After contacting support, they told me the transaction was linked to a Dott account with my last name and suggested a “family member” might have used my card, even though no one in my family lives in Amsterdam or has my card details. They finally agreed to permanently block my card in their system, but only after several messages and without offering any real explanation of how my card was used without my consent. This situation seriously damages my trust in how Dott manages payment data and fraud prevention. I strongly advise checking your bank statements carefully if your card has ever been used with Dott.

Can't believe Bristol council gave them a contract

Can't believe Bristol council chose Dott over the existing Voi scooters that worked great...Was someone given a backhand to sign this awful deal? Dott are unbelievably bad, the worst service I can remember having for many years. In a city where there are so many people eager to use a service like this, I find it incredible that nothing is done and they somehow retain their contract. They have completely failed customers and are not fit for service, they should be axed immediately and removed from Bristol.

Waste of space

First of all, I can't tell you how many times I've had to contact your useless customer service to sort out the 9/10 scooters that have issues. Secondly you offer ridiculous Halloween specials. £19.99 for 100 minutes when I could get 120 minutes for less than £18. Regardless of the duration of calendar dates. How dumb are your marketing team. Honestly, what a pathetic excuse for a company. You send all these safety notifications (for compliance I'm sure) but I can't tell you how many times your scooters have stopped working in the middle of an intersection. Do everyone a favour, dissolve your company, sell it to someone who isn't completely inept you bunch of pirates
