Back in 2022 I bought the original cabin and the classic cabin for my partner and myself. Both luggages have been great companions on many trips since then. Rimowa makes simply timeless icons - made in Germany at its best!
We purchased two cabin plus pieces of luggage from a store in Boston on December 9, 2025. Our first trip was on December 12, 2025, and we managed the luggage ourselves, with some help from hotel valets. My wife was present, reminding them to handle the luggage carefully due to its high cost. Unfortunately, we've been quite disappointed with the quality. We've noticed scratches and dings even with gentle handling. It's surprising that many consider this to be quality luggage. While minor scuffs are expected, we were shocked to find a corner dented just from falling over in a car. After returning home on December 24, we assessed the luggage and, although we can't return it, we wouldn't consider buying from them again or recommending them. You might be better off purchasing something from another platform and accepting the wear and tear, as we have experienced. Additionally, the luggage tags are of poor quality, bending from simple use in overhead compartments and SUVs. It's simply unacceptable!
Having been a loyal customer for over 15 years, I have always valued the quality and durability of their suitcases. Unfortunately, my latest experience has been very disappointing. In September 2023, I purchased a suitcase from their Essential line, which seems to have replaced the previously trusted line. Despite minimal use, this suitcase has experienced multiple material failures. After just three trips, the inner lining tore. Addressing this issue was frustrating; I had to repeatedly push customer service to acknowledge the problem and advocate for a shipping box and coverage of shipping costs. Six weeks passed from my initial repair request to receiving confirmation that they would fix it and cover shipping. Now, having just returned from another trip, I've discovered a 2–3 inch crack near one of the wheels. I used to recommend this brand enthusiastically to friends and family. The first suitcase I bought 15 years ago only recently developed its first crack. While I didn’t expect it to be indestructible, for a product marketed as premium, I expected better durability. These recurring issues indicate a broader decline in quality rather than isolated incidents. Prices have increased while quality seems to have decreased, and I can’t endure their service process again. That's why I'm sharing my experience.
