Make absolutely sure the items you select will work for your application (check online boards and other's prior experiences) because the Schmiedmann staff will not focus on what you ask, and then will not stand behind their recommendations. The parts are fine, and the pricing is OK, and everything arrives quickly. But sometimes what you get is inappropriate, and they don't really care.-------------------------UPDATE-------------------------Thank you Martin, for your reply.I am very glad to see you were able to finally locate my correspondence after an initial poor review was posted. It is curious your staff was unable to do so prior to that.To the contrary, there was zero notice from you of risk of incompatibility with a four pole US setup; actually I was consistently assured both by email and telephone this was exactly the part I needed. And I am unsure of your point that I contacted you for technical support "now over 2.5 years later". I bought the harness knowing in advance that it would be needed, it was installed, and I first tried to use it two plus years later which was when I first learned it was unsatisfactory and I was misinformed. Would that result have differed had I needed to use it earlier?It is also misleading to suggest I was seeking a refund. Instead I wanted the trailer harness to function and sought technical guidance.If your staff was a little less zealous about selling products they could have told me three years ago "gee, we're sorry, but we don't have anything that will work for you" and then we would not be having this correspondence today. As it is, if there was an option for no stars that is what I would post. You should be ashamed.
My E30 M3 Evo 2 was "restored" by these amateurs. I curse the day I encountered their parts manager who convinced me this company can restore a classic BMW. They are nothing more than a professionally marketed after market bolt on garage. These amateurs do not deserve even the 1 star I had to choose in order to leave a review; they deserve contempt.I ended up with a bill of €87k, plus €3700 in legal fees to FORCE these scammers to provide a detailed justification for the work charged. 2 examples of how they hugely inflate their labour charges; I was charged 3 days labour to install a Z3 steering rack, 1 week to re-install a 7 speaker boot mounted amp and cd auto-changer. These and other labour charges can be viewed at the FB group named at the end of this review.According to 3 independent BMW E30 M3 professional restorers who have read Schmiedmann's labour cost breakdown and one restorer who has since remedied most of the faults, the total restoration charges should NOT have exceeded €40k. The list of faults after 1458 miles since collecting the car are now coming to light. The car broke down in Germany 158 miles after leaving their premises. Fuel was leaking from the tank. They are shameless marketing junkies, posting numerous highly edited slick videos in youtube of a "perfect" car and a happy customer. I requested they remove these videos because they are merely untrue, but my requests are ignored.Their name in the BMW FB E30 community is now a byword for 3rd rate work and excessive labour charges.I feel it is my duty and responsibility to other BMW car owners to share my experience.Please save yourself your hard earned money and stress; CONSIDER ELSEWHERE!!!!!!!!!Hand on heart; with the benefit of hindsight, I would not trust this outfit with restoring a wheelbarrow.Schmiedmann have complained on numerous occasions to Trustpilot to have my review removed. This review will be revised pending the outcome of the prompt follow up of Schmiedmann, based on their response to my below review. ---First shopping experience was ok however, they also sent me someone else's order (came to Australia, due for Netherlands). I could easily have kept it but I did the right thing and reported it, they had a courier collect it promptly - this saved them ~150EUR! My order however, did not arrive with the promotional free mug or t-shirt. Second purchase experience was quite the opposite, I used their webchat to verify part numbers I was going to order. In addition, when I placed the order, I supplied my VIN and again asked them to double check fitment. During the webchat, they told me to put the 'free' t-shirt in the notes section because it was adding more than the value of the shirt, in shipping costs when added to the cart - so I did. Parts arrived, do not fit. No t-shirt either. Jumped on webchat and asked what to do from here as the URL on the orange instructional page for RMAs inside the shipment, does not actually exist. Logged an RMA and listed all the part numbers. Was told they no longer had t-shirts in my size, yet this was never mentioned during the order process, did they ask if I wanted a mug instead? No.No response for 4 days so I chase up. Danny apologised for the late response and followed up by asking what parts I was talking about, though I'd already listed them all in the RMA (which is a mandatory process)? He also asked for the VIN which was clearly already provided.No reponse for 6 days so I chase up, again. Another apology from Danny for the late response. He provided the return address and asked me to send them back. At this point, I asked why they weren't sending courier at their cost because they clearly sent the wrong parts. No response for 4 days so I chase up, again. Another apology from Danny for the late response. Now I'm asked which part doesn't fit along with some photos... really, after 17 days? Photos were provided on the same day and videos 2 days later. No response after 5 days and I've just chased up again. Tedious. I saved these guys by sending back an order that was incorrectly shipped to me and this is how I'm thanked in return? This place is a scam. Have been trying to return headlights because they didn’t work for over 4 months and they dodge my calls and emails. The one time they gave me an address to send back to, they refused to accept the delivery so now I’m out 160.00 for shipping. That plus the cost of the headlights totals over $600.00 that I’ve lost over all of this. Do not buy from these people.
I have experienced this with Schmiedmann before as well. You pay for the part but you never get the part on time. You end up paying for the parts shipment and PayPal costs; but when you cancel they only get the parts cost back. Why can't they give a long stop date for delivery after checking with BMW???
