Review Time
Usually, they are pretty good. Stock is good, and the prices are ok-ish. This time, however, they really let me and themselves down. Ordered 2 fake grass rolls worth over £400 each (and was due to order two more). They said delivery to them was on the 10th and delivery to me was on the 11th (Friday). No delivery turned up. I phoned them, and they said it would now be on the 15th...and no one had bothered to phone to say. So although I planned to install it at the weekend, I wasn't getting it. Got refund, and they missed out on a £834 sale. Just very poor.
How the times have changed. 6 years ago I wrote a review of Selco stating how good they were. They have gone downhill. My last two orders I placed for delivery always turn up late. Im still waiting for one today. I phoned them and got one syllable responses. I believe because I'm only a,10 minute walk away they leave my stuff on the truck to deliver as their last one on they way back to the New Southgate Base. I'm seriously fed up with their service this past year. I'll be going elsewhere in future.
We've been badly messed around by Barking branch with deliveries over the last two months. Not a single delivery was correct, and the invoicing has been an absolute nightmare. It's hard to believe that a store which used to be a pleasure to do business with has turned into one of the biggest headaches. Something has clearly gone very wrong, and serious action needs to be taken immediately.
I had placed an order and received a quote with the Sidcup branch, they informed me that the order would be delivered to me by my local branch, (Bermondsey). I went to Bermondsey with that quote and a female assistant informed me that the order and delivery times did not make sense. Due to the lateness of the day she was unable to fully sort it out and suggested I return tomorrow for another colleague to assist. At the branch on the following day I met Billy, who brought a breath of fresh air to the situation. He eliminated all the confusion and patiently took the time to clarify the quote and confirm the delivery date and time. He was Polite, Professional and Patient. He ensured that the order was amended to my satisfaction and it became obvious that he was an experienced member of staff, as he guided me expertly through each item of purchase. Well done Billy!!
Firstly, I hate complaining, I feel the service I received was so poor and backed up with lies, that I had to.I placed an order online on June 18th for delivery on Saturday, June 21st. at 13:49 on the 21st, I received a phone call to say the driver had run out of time and that he would not be delivering. Which meant the plasterer I had lined up had lost 2 days' work. I was promised on that call that it would be put out, 1st run the following Saturday, the 28th. and that it would be with me by 08:30. I felt I couldn't trust that, so I went out of my way on Friday 27th, to phone the Portsmouth depot to confirm this would happen. I spoke with "redacted", who assured me that the notes were on the ticket for a failed delivery and must be the first drop. at 09:57 on Saturday the 28th, I had no delivery still, so I phoned up and spoke with someone who said, and I quote, "Who told you it would be first drop?" I explained what had happened, to be told he would put me on hold and go and find out. After 17 minutes on hold, I hung up. I eventually received a call back from "Redacted", who told me he didn't know why or what had happened, but it was being loaded now and would be sent directly to me. At 11:53, still no delivery, and my plasterers again leaving the job, I phoned again, and "Redacted"" said it should have been with me. and he would call him and ring me back... At 12:18, "Redacted" phoned me to say he would be with me in 5 minutes. I said I would like to know what will be done about me now spending more on plasterers to stand around waiting, than the materials I had purchased. Andy suggested I ring up on Monday and ask to speak to the manager. I declined his invite, suggested he speak to his manager, and asked him to ring me.When the driver arrived, he was the only ray of hope I had for your depot at Portsmouth, polite, and surprised I had had a bad day, as they had sent him to do a job in Southampton first, before coming to me. I realise I haven't spent a lot of money with you guys. After receiving a call this morning from "Redacted" to say he had spoken with the manager, and there is nothing that can be done about my losses, perhaps a discount on my next order would resolve all the problems your Portsmouth depot has caused me. I declined as there is very little chance of my trusting the depot, let alone ordering from them again. I don't feel that customer service is even on the agenda here, let alone good ownership of mistakes when made. I believe we all make mistakes, and we judge people on how they resolve them. this was unresolved.
