If I could give 0/5 I would. Does anyone get the feeling they don’t actually want you to payoff your loan? I can’t believe in this day and age the only way to contact them is via a phone line which no one answers. Apparently people have tried via Facebook? I don’t waste my time with social media rubbish so that isn’t an option for me. Surely there has to be a better way to request a final statement that you can pay off without the danger of then potentially overpaying and then having the problem of needing to phone up again to get a refund... Honestly this company is a joke.

Terrible service. Waited an hour on hold and couldn't wait any longer. Phoned another time and waited another hour, got through to an advisor who put me on hold and cut me off. I phoned again and it said there was at least a 45 minute wait, I couldn't bear to listen to the hold music all over again. The message on their automated system says that to avoid the wait you can send a message via the Facebook site. I did this and received a response saying athat they will take 72 hours to respond, in itself that is not a problem, however some time later I received a message saying they were closing and I would have to resend the message the following week, the original message said not to resend. I went on to message again today during their opening ours and was unable to send the message, it seems the message function is now disabled. I then went on to the Facebook posts and there are 100s of people complaining they also can not get through or message them so it's not just me. The problem is that we have very little choice but to use them.

Absolute nightmate to deal with. Told me to set up a direct debt, then reduced my payments and wouldn't let me increase so I was paying more interest. Couldn't give me a final balance after an hour on hold. Couldn't even take my complaint over the phone. Joke. Glad to be done with you.

These people are scum. They have made zero attempt to contact me before sending my details to a debt collection company. They had my phone, they had my email so there is zero excuse. The UK has become a country where people with ambition are punished for it and the Student Loan Company is the face of that. Let's hope they don't exist for much longer.
