I liked this app at first, as my youngest daughter, was using it as she’s homeschooled, and then I added my oldest daughter as she started homeschooling, as well. The app is very limited and it didn’t have lessons for her year group, so I decided I didn’t want to use this app anymore, as it doesn’t serve the purpose it was intended for. I contacted them and told them I wanted to cancel. They sent an email back and told me it was cancelled, but I didn’t know I would be continuously charged regardless of the cancellation they said they would do. They are now adding late fees onto the invoice. My children don’t even use the app anymore and I was blindsided into thinking this was a cancel anytime you felt like subscription. I can’t afford to keep paying for an app I won’t use or need and to force someone into subscriptions, is very unfair. This is stress I don’t need or want. I wouldn’t recommend this app, as it’s very misleading and unfair.

Sofatutor is the most family-unfriendly company I have dealt with. I signed up after their aggressive promotion, created an account for my daughter, but she did not like it and never used it. No reminder that the trial was ending, just a sudden yearly charge. After multiple emails and calls, I was told the account would be cancelled since it was NEVER used once during the payment period. I trusted that. Eight months later, they are chasing me again for payment on an unused account. They show no empathy, no flexibility, and no basic understanding of how families work. Mistakes happen—kids change their minds—but Sofatutor only cares about squeezing money from parents.Their “contact support” replies are an insult. I did, many times. There is no help, no understanding, no human response. All I can do now is warn other parents. I will make sure everyone in our kindergarten and school knows about their practices and chooses another learning app instead. If you are a parent, STAY AWAY! They will take your money, ignore your situation, and hide behind automated answers. Nothing about this company is family friendly.
SCAM SUBSCRIPTION MODEL - BEWARE!! Don't be misled by the friendly looking website.. this company is simply out to trap people and don't care about customer satisfaction. They trick you into paying for a 2 year subscription with the text "cancel at any time", without making it clear that after the 30 days you're locked into a 2 year contract for a cost of CHF 480 (EUR 514)! And buried deep in their fine print it says that cancellation before that requires a letter by post or email, there's no simple way to do it. When you call their customer service they can't care less. They flat out refused to help and said that if I cancelled the credit card to stop the payments, then they would send the case to a debt collector as the subscription equals a legal contract. Modern companies should win over their customers by having an amazing product and not by threatening hard working parents with legal action. I use other education websites too and none of them have this kind of exploitative attitude. I was shocked and feel completely taken advantage of. Interestingly on the website Glassdoor where employees post reviews, some employees say the working conditions are unpleasant and some were even not paid on time. The name of the CEO and management is not on the website as with other companies. No doubt this is because they know that what they are doing is shady. Don't make the mistake I did. There are so many better companies, don't get tricked by these scammers.
EDIT: Another lady from customer support, reached me after my review and offered me a refund. All in all, I can say that we solved this issue and my cancellation has been successfully cancelled.I registered my daughter because she needed support in German. She barely practiced for the first two days and found it not so convenient, so she gave up. In the meantime, I completely forgot to cancel the 30-day trial, due to all the problems and costs that occurred during that period. I literally started to cry when I saw that 239,88 € had been charged, and reached the service center. They asked for proof for a difficult situation (a report from a dr.) so I provided evidence that my son has a difficult hearing loss problem, and explained that his hearing aid has to be repaired for a significant amount, and also screenshotted the state on our account, with two loans on board.I got a reply today that my reasons cannot be taken as a goodwill cancellation, and got an offer to split my payment into monthly installments, BUT instead of 19,99, this would be 24.99 €! In terms of goodwill, they want to earn MORE from me! is this a goodwill?! I suppose that only evidence that someone is dying would be good enough for a "goodwill" cancellation! not to mention how humiliating is to share my financial situation with a total stranger, and then get the rejection, with the intention to take more money from me.Be very, very careful with your trial; if possible, avoid and search for a private tutor! At least you will know what you are paying for.
There was a hiccup regarding the cancellation policy between support, my partner and myself. After talking to their support team, we reached an amicable solution. They were polite and offered resolutions to the issue without pressure. The app itself isn't bad and the units that covered the topics our daughter struggled with helped her a little however it turns out we get a similar support app through the school for free and so we discontinued the trial. For the short time it was in use and from what we have experienced so far, I think it's not too bad but in the end it wasn't the right fit for our daughter.
I signed up for a 30-day trial with Sofatutor, assuming that I would be able to cancel easily before any charges occurred. Unfortunately, I completely forgot to cancel, as I mistakenly assumed the subscription would terminate automatically at the end of the trial period. To my surprise, my subscription was converted into a 1-year plan without further notice, resulting in a charge of €239.88.When I contacted their support team to explain the situation and request a refund (as I hadn’t used the service after the trial), I was informed that they couldn’t offer a refund for the remaining 11 months. They did offer a 10% discount, reducing the total to €215.88, but this still leaves me with a large payment for a service I no longer need or use.As someone who is currently unemployed, this unexpected financial burden has been extremely difficult to manage, and the lack of flexibility from Sofatutor has made it worse. I understand that I missed the cancellation deadline, but it would be great if they showed more empathy, especially since this situation seems to have affected many other users, based on similar reviews here on Trustpilot.---I have reached out again to explain my situation in more detail, hoping for a more flexible resolution. I will update this review based on their response.---October 14_UPDATE:I’m happy to share that I have received a full refund from Sofatutor. Initially, they requested proof of my unemployment status, but the process seemed to speed up shortly after I shared my experience on Trustpilot. While the resolution came after some effort, I appreciate the customer service team’s responsiveness and willingness to address my concerns once the issue was brought to their attention.
I signed up for a free trial period to see how our son would like the app, but it wasn't at all suitable. Other than the sign-up email, there was no further emails and no reminder of the trial period ending and that there would be an automatic charge. As we had been busy that month we completely forgot about the service. I only received an email a month later notifying me that I had been charged for the full 12 month plan (240 euros)! When I requested a cancellation the same day I was told I would not be refunded. The lack of any communication during a trial period and the unwillingness to then issue a refund for an honest mistake says all you need to know about this company. If these sorts of tactics are needed to be profitable, then you have to start wondering about the quality of the product. We didn't find the platform very helpful for kids, especially for the high price, so the number of positive reviews here is really suspicious. Think twice before signing up!
