poor service intolerant...
NO to STUDENT CRIBS

In January 2025 my daughter decided to move into Byron Lofts in Newcastle, we live in the south so we checked out the website and the rooms looked lovely. We were regularly received emails informing us we only had a short time to book or the apartment might go back on the market? We paid our deposit and signed the contract to move in 28th July 2025 @ 2:30pm (specific date and time given by student cribs). Because my daughter was in effect taking over a contract from the existing tenant we took comfort in the fact their contract stipulated they were responsible to ensure the apartment is deep cleaned and left in good order? We paid our first quarter payment in advance £1800. We received an email from the north east team confirming “they looked forward to meeting us on the 28th”? We packed on the day and drove for 3 hours, we arrived to find the place locked and no sign of life, no student cribs agent? We waited 20 minutes until my daughter managed to find a tenant that was home and let us in. We went straight up to the room and found an absolutely disgusting and disgracefully presented apartment, the door was open, mould all over the room and bathroom, stains in the mattress, silicone sealer was black with mould, walls had liquid stains all over, the desk was disgusting and the TV didn’t work? I rang them immediately but no one was available locally so I spoke to a call centre in London. I told them we were not moving in, we were rejecting the room, we took loads of photos and within 20 minutes had emailed them with a list of things needed to be rectified before my daughter moved in. After a week we had heard nothing, no phone calls, a couple of emails but importantly no apology or confirmation they were going to carry out any of the repairs (the room stank of mould and damp). After a week I sent an email confirming we wished to be released from the contract under “the right to unwind” under the 2018 housing act. From there on we received nothing it threats and complacency, ignoring requests, demanding money etc… in the end we went to a solicitor and have been chasing compensation ever since, to date, over a year later we have offered fair compromise but received absolute silence? DO NOT CONTRACT with Student Cribs, they are a shameful and disgraceful organisation hell bent on ripping off poor innocent students.UPDATEHaving received a response from student cribs May I just clarify a few points? 1 I tried to ring and speak to someone for nearly a month until your colleague Joshua insisted that I not ring him but instead revert to email only? 2 your responses to our solicitors letters have been vague, non conclusive and, you have rejected ever receiving any supporting information from us in support of our claim? When we sent you an exact timeline of our information sent (January 2026) you have, to date, failed to reply, even after we offered to relinquish some of the monies we have so far paid you for an apartment my daughter has NEVER occupied? Added to the fact we have now spent several thousand pounds over and above to find her alternative accommodation very very late and literally just before the September start of year 2. Appalling and disgraceful customer service, your operation exists to make money on the misery of poor students….UPDATE2Almost 2 months now since we sent our last solicitor letter and no response from Student Cribs? Are these the actions of a company who holds customer service at the centre of their business or is it just lip service to draw unsuspecting inexperienced and innocent students into contracts that do not protect them and accommodation that is not fit for habitation? Anyone want to see some of the photos of my daughter’s room please contact me directly. DO NOT CONTRACT WITH STUDENT CRIBS! They are a disgraceful organisation….

Don’t use this company !

5 of us live in one of student-cribs houses in Nottingham. They hardly respond to any of your reports on the house. We’ve had mould in all of our rooms, hasn’t been fixed for 2 weeks now and it getting worse. Random things went missing between us viewing the house and getting into the house e.g the gardens benches are no longer there which we asked if we would have prior to moving in which they responded with yes. We got told that we have to sort out own bills out which we did and after a month realised we were paying 2 different bills for 2 separate companies which we didn’t get told about. Our boiler has broken 5 times and they don’t respond to fixing it, had to call and email them and then they finally came. The only positive is how lovely the maintenance people actually are. When they do finally come they are very lovely and up for a nice chat.

Paul and Mike came and fixed my ceiling and couldn’t have been more efficient. They were professional, punctual and clearly very experienced. The work was completed to a high standard and they made sure everything was clean and tidy before they left. I really appreciated their friendly attitude and clear communication throughout the job. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing maintenance or repair work.
