Summ looks promising on the surface, but the platform simply does not work reliably with Coinbase or Coinbase Advanced Trade. The import process loses critical data, drops transactions, and mis‑categorizes trades in ways that create fake gains and missing cost basis. Once this happens, you’re forced into hours of manual reconstruction for transactions that should have been recognized automatically.Support repeatedly promises fixes, but the issues never actually get resolved. You keep trying the suggested steps, re‑syncing, re‑uploading, and waiting for updates — but the underlying problems remain unchanged.To make matters worse, Summ’s 7‑day refund window is completely inadequate. You don’t discover the full extent of the import and categorization failures until you’ve spent significant time troubleshooting. By the time it becomes clear the service won’t work for your data, the refund period has already expired.Support response times are also slow, often taking 3–4 days between replies. That delay contributes directly to users missing the refund window while waiting for help that ultimately doesn’t fix the problem.For a tax product, accuracy and reliability are non‑negotiable. Until Summ fixes Coinbase importing, improves categorization, and offers a realistic refund policy, it’s not a dependable solution for anyone who trades on Coinbase.Date of experience: February 2026
I've used this software for several years now after my accountant recommended. With the change over to the new system and rebrand to Summ several inconsistencies in my data were identified that had me overwhelmed and confused, but when I reached out via the chat in the software and started getting assistance from a human it resolved quickly, very impressed with their staff. I've used two other crypto tax services so far and just started using Summ this year. I've found its interface and features to be a lot more elegant, responsive and thought-out than the other ones I've used. Gilbert has been great on the customer support side as well. My experience with the other services I've used has usually involved a lot of wishing they had tools/views/reports/etc that they don't have, and getting noncommittal responses or from support about adding the functionality I want or about using some hacky workaround instead, and then ends with me ultimately having to sift through and fix up a lot of txs manually. Whereas with Summ most of what I've wanted to do/use/etc is just there out of the box because they thought of that already, and the most I need support to do is point me to where the tool already is. Their tooling feels like it's downstream of them actually understanding the struggle of doing crypto taxes, which is nice.
