A friend bought me this knife thinking it was made in California by a local craftsman. Not true. The knife is made in China. I have asked the Cooking Guild several times to confirm but they refuse to answer. They must be embarrassed about the origins.
Great Knives! Recently purchased master series set with the recommendation of a very well known chef in Indianapolis. I figured if they was good enough for him they would more than what I needed. I have used them for every day for 5 months now and I have not even had to sharpen them. Shipping is a little slow but well worth the wait.
I have been waiting and waiting for my knife that I paid for 4 months ago. I email over and over and I am still waiting for the knife I already paid for. I cannot find a phone number anywhere. I bought this for as gift. Just ridiculous and frustrating.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE MASTER SERIES KNIVES. I own 2 of their knives: the Master Shefu 8” Chef knife and the Master Snazan Serbian Knife. They’re beautiful and sharp but uncomfortable. The edge of the metal knob on the handles were not properly finished. The edge is rough and can potentially cut you. I’ve had to wrap the knobs with tape. Consumers shouldn’t have to do this after paying $200+ for 2 knives.
I found myself mesmerized by the videos of these knives preparing a meal over an open fire, in a forest of all places! I took the plunge and ordered the bundle (but really had my eye on the Serbian Cleaver). Wow. What a knife. Love the weight and balance, and boy did it come sharp. My wife, who is rarely impressed by these kinds of things had to try using one of them and came away a believer too. Great knives, great purchase, good price. I would do it again in a second. My cooking and carving has been enhanced in significant ways. Thank you, Cooking Guild!
Shipping took a very long time. I ordered the bushcraft bundle and another 3 knife set. I feel they were way overpriced. The first one I received was a Serbian cleaver. It was so dull, it wouldn’t cut a thing. I spent 2-3 hours sharpening it and it works good. After about another month and a half I finally received the other 4 knives. They were semi sharp but I would not call them sharp. These knives look great and feel good in the hand when using them. I’m not a fan of the black oily residue that comes on the upper part of the blades. It takes multiple washes to come off. I personally didn’t feel comfortable using them for food prep until after multiple washes.
