Go to a local consignment store - not ThredUp. I have purchased from ThredUp in prior years. The process was easy for both purchasing and returning. It is still easy to purchase but they no longer include a return bag and they do charge $10.99 for a return label in addition to the $3.99 per item to restock.
All of the pants were much too long so I returned them but this is the last time I will use ThredUp.
I need to return items. customer service email told me to chat online. chatbot NOT HELPFUL AT ALL.
I like the idea of reusing clothing, but nothing in my order fit mre. go to local goodwill instead!!
This site is a joke and will rip you off. I sent 3 evening gowns and they gave them away without my consent and sold an over $150 dress for $2. PLEASE DON’T GIVE YOUR CLOTHES TO THEM!!! You are better off donating it to people. What a scammer, BEWARE
I continually have ordered from ThredUp remaining hopeful. Once I’m awhile I get something good, but most often it’s a let down. My recent order contained jeggings which were described as actual jeans. I’m 55 years old. I don’t wear jeggings. It also contained a cute pair of booties that were described as “ good condition”. I threw them in the garbage a day later because the scuffs on the suede were so bad. I am waiting on a credit from the jeggings but I think I am done buying from them. I am more disappointed than satisfied. I’ve received items that were described as women’s and when I received it, it was a child’s pair of pants and an entirely different brand than what was listed.
The dress was misrepresented in photo and condition description. Very worn...should not have been sold but given away. Won't use them again and when trying to return the dress shipping was 10.99, I use a $10 off promo for dress paid 13.77 so my return would be less than $3.00. I'll just donate it!
I’m a Canadian customer and had a genuinely awful experience ordering from ThredUp, like most here I probably should’ve checked the reviews first lol. Firstly, during checkout nowhere was it once stated that all prices were in USD. My order total showed $62, which I assumed was CAD after I had written my address down and all. Only after the purchase went through did I realize I was actually charged $87 CAD due to currency conversion. Even the order confirmation email still shows “$62” with no currency clarification which is incredibly misleading. I then contacted customer support within minutes after placing the order to cancel it once I realized my mistake. The live chat support didn’t seem to even work so I quickly emailed them. I then didn’t receive a response until like 5+ hours later, conveniently stating that my order was already “packed and labeled” and could no longer be canceled. This delay feels pretty intentional as I reached out well within a reasonable time frame. And to make matters worse returning items from Canada means paying expensive international return shipping which completely defeats the point of even shopping secondhand for affordability. ThredUp may technically ship to Canada but its lack of transparency, poor cancellation handling, and USD only pricing make it a bad and risky choice for Canadians. I would not recommend this platform at all unless you are in the US perhaps and fully aware of the hidden costs.
I have been using the service since 2017 and earned $432.34 from 2017 to 2020 across 13 bags, with some bags generating over $70 each. The average was $33.26 for those bags. However, they have since introduced a $2.99 charge per bag along with a $14.99 processing fee that diminishes your earnings. Recently, I sent in 4 bags filled with high-quality name brand items, many of which were new with tags. Unfortunately, I earned nothing from the sales due to these fees, and my share of each sale is much lower than before. I advise against wasting your time or money with this service. While a consignment store may take longer, at least you won't feel taken advantage of. In retrospect, I should have grouped my highest value items together to maximize earnings. I'm extremely disappointed that this once reputable service has turned into a complete rip-off. I even suspect that my bags were organized in a way to ensure that none would exceed the fees, preventing me from making any profit. I will not use this service again.
I had a decent experience purchasing items, but selling them was a complete letdown. It was incredibly misleading! I sent in a bag filled with name brand items (Brooks, Vans, Converse, Gap, Old Navy, etc.), and they all sold for a mere $13. To make matters worse, they hit me with a processing fee of $14.99. Essentially, I gave away these items for free. I'm done with this platform and will certainly look to sell elsewhere.
One star feels overly generous! I read the reviews and assumed the sellers misunderstood, so I sent a 30-pound box using a free label and a 50% off selling fee coupon. I included 19 brand new items, all pants and 2 boots that were never unpackaged, worth about $1000. I ended up selling 6 items and received just $3.88 in total. I can’t believe I fell for this trap. If you’re considering it, delete the app to avoid temptation and visit a local consignment shop today! Let my experience guide you away from a similar outcome!
Absolutely fantastic! In the past, I bought several items, and many were problematic, with incorrect sizes and defects. It was quite frustrating. However, I recently ordered some jeans, sweaters, and shoes, and everything was perfect! They arrived promptly, fit wonderfully, and the shoes were just ideal. The website has undergone a significant improvement, with much clearer item descriptions than before. I definitely plan to shop with them again in the future!
