Title: A Disappointing Experience with Toyota Ireland's Support for the bZ4X

As a loyal Toyota customer since 1993, I am writing this review with immense disappointment and a significant financial loss due to my experience with Toyota Ireland regarding my bZ4X. While my previous Toyota vehicles were superb, my journey with the bZ4X has been marred by unprofessional conduct and a severe lack of support from the manufacturer. My bZ4X, purchased in 2022, arrived over six months after the initial order, a delay I understood given the post-COVID supply chain challenges. Initially, I was delighted with the car. However, this initial joy was short-lived. One evening, while driving in a rural area en route to a private medical emergency, all internal lights ceased functioning, followed moments later by the failure of the external lights. The car then stopped working entirely, forcing me to find alternative transport to the hospital. The following morning, I received a call from Toyota 24/7 assistance. The representative was a gentleman – helpful and professional – who informed me that the company was experiencing software and battery issues with the bZ4X. This was the beginning of an 18-month nightmare. Over this period, my bZ4X suffered SIX product recalls . Despite being serviced twice and numerous attempts to resolve the ongoing issues through telephone calls and emails, the problems persisted, leaving me feeling that the car was dangerous to drive. I arranged a private assessment, which confirmed the problems, a finding later corroborated by a Toyota Ireland technical report. Adding to the distress, I experienced unacceptable behaviour from one Toyota Ireland staff member, including name-calling. While an apology was eventually offered and accepted to move past the immediate issue, it highlighted a concerning level of unprofessionalism within the organisation. It appears Toyota Ireland's customer care is impressive when you're making a purchase, but evaporates when you encounter genuine problems. The financial implications of this experience are substantial. I purchased my bZ4X for €55,000 (including the government grant). Two years later, I am informed it is now worth a mere €21,000-€22,000, a staggering depreciation loss directly attributable to the unresolved issues. Furthermore, Toyota Ireland has denied paying refunds of up to €10,000 to some customers in 2024, while refusing to offer me any similar compensation despite my significant financial loss and woeful experience. My bZ4X is currently on PCP finance, and I will be returning it to Toyota in 2026. This will mark the end of my 30-year relationship with the Toyota brand. It is important to note that the individual garages and their staff have been fantastic to deal with throughout this ordeal. However, the overarching experience with Toyota Ireland itself has left a very bitter taste and a significant financial cost. This is a genuine review, born from firsthand experience. My previous non-electric Toyota's were superb, and I have always recommended the brand. However, based on my bZ4X ownership, I strongly advise potential buyers to AVOID this model and to be wary of Toyota Ireland's support system when problems arise. I hope this review helps others make a more informed decision

No help and terrible customer support

No help and terrible customer support, especially Ciara. She is not helpful at all and doesn't do her job well. Our problem hasn't been solve and she didn't even try to help or refer us to someone who could help. You are absolutely alone with problems that Toyota cause and don't take any responsibility for solving them.

Something is not right with Toyota

Something is not right with Toyota. I have a 2024 RAV4 in which I bought brand new via PCP in February 2024. Approximately a month later I reported an issue with the Radio in which it prompts a T&C's screen consistently once a secondary driver is in the car (in this instance, the secondary driver is registered to the radio and this should not be happening).I've given Toyota the guts of a full year to fix this issue but I consistently keep getting the run around - with over populated email responses that raises more questions than answers. I understand Toyota can build great cars, but once you have an issue their Customer Service has a lot to be desired for. I can't recommend a Toyota car at present because they have no idea on how to fix an issue at the minute. Cars have really increased in price lately yet Customer Service has declined. Something is not right.

I have a 2011 Yaris diesel

I have a 2011 Yaris diesel. The DPF (diesel particulate filter) which filters out particulates from the cat converter has clogged 3 times. It transpires that this is a common weakness in many different manufactures of that period. Answer is touted as periodic hard driving, which I do.Despite it being a manufacturing fault, I was twice charged large sums by Toyota dealer to clear. When I complained, service manager was dismissive to the point of rudeness.

Toyota Rav 4

It's disheartening to see a brand with such a strong reputation for quality falter in the area of customer care. While Toyota vehicles may be reliable, the overall ownership experience can be marred by subpar support. Potential buyers should carefully consider these factors before making a purchase.

Greedy company

They brought in the Corolla cross to Ireland, so I was very exited that it'll be positioned between the pretty yet cramped CHR and the Truck RAV4, but guess what? They pushed the RAV4 price up and pretended that the Corolla Cross was the new RAV4 😂😂😂😂😂😂 40k

Sneaky!

I’m driving a 2022 Yaris…the car is ok so why the low rating? Toyota has just introduced a new app with less functionality than the old one. When you register on the new one and discover it’s limitations, it’s not possible to revert the car to the old app.. sneaky!

I bought a Toyota BZ 4X Electric 10…

I bought a Toyota BZ 4X Electric 10 months ago. First problem was 12 V. Battery went flat while I was away on holidays went back to Toyota told me there was nothing wrong with the battery second problem, car will not charge up over 350 km. they told me it will get better but it hasn’t, problem. Number three orange light coming on no heat in the cabin, went back to them again they carried out a diagnostics test said there was nothing wrong as the light was gone off when I went back, came back on again a week later, so I took a photograph maintenance said they did not know what the light was for, but they put a new sensor in light came back on a week later this time they told me they put in the wrong sensor and Toyota Ireland was sending over the right one so they put this in. They had my car for two days. I use this vehicle as a taxi they had it for a day and a half first time and approximately a day over the 12 V battery the second time when I was over with them, they disconnected a live feed for my Taxi Meter off the fuse board when they were conducting the diagnostics test I had to go and have my Taxi Meter recalibrated that was another day off the road every time I go to them. It cost me money as I use this vehicle for my livelihood. I’ve asked them a number of times about trading it back in they don’t seem to want to know the last time I asked them they could not give me a price for a trade-in as they said there was an EV evaluation coming and they would let me know in about two weeks that was two months ago I still haven’t heard anything. The only thing I have heard that Toyota was buying back problem vehicles, so I hope if they see this, they will buy my one back as it is a heap of junk. I would not recommend buying one of these vehicles. BZ4X Electric, I have nothing but problems with it. I don’t think they know what they’re doing regarding electric vehicles, maybe where they construct them they have an idea, but here in Ireland, they don’t seem to know I bought the car from Toyota Liffey Valley Dublin. I am not a happy camper as they say.
