I paid $250 upfront for shipping through Transdirect. The parcel was physically inspected and accepted at pickup and delivered successfully with no issue raised at collection.
After delivery, I was charged an additional $265 — more than the original cost — allegedly due to a 15% discrepancy in measurements. The item was an irregular shape, yet they claim to measure from the “absolute widest points”, which can significantly overstate size for non-box freight.
No revised quote was issued and no approval was requested before debiting my PayPal account.
Charging more than double the original agreed price after the service has been completed, without customer consent, is not reasonable. Very disappointing experience.
Google search suggests Transdirect due to partnership with PayPal and was recommended at the top of the list of companies, lived up to expectation, booked service collection 21st, next day collected. 21kg package from Adelaide to Victoria delivered within 2 days, fasted delivery experienced to date. However fees should be more competitive.
Disappointing experience. I've relied on this service for several shipments over the years. While I had minor pickup issues in the past, overall the service was satisfactory, and I had no complaints. However, my most recent shipment was absurd; they charged me an extra $50 due to the box being deemed 'larger than quoted.' I measured and weighed the package multiple times and am certain it matched the dimensions I provided. Having shipped hundreds of boxes before, I understand the importance of accurate package details, and I had never faced extra charges previously. This time, though, they claimed the package was oversized and automatically charged me $50 more without providing any evidence. I didn't think to document the package details since I was careful with the sizes and weights I submitted. When I raised my concern, their response was that they use precise measurements for these assessments. However, when I requested proof, they informed me they were not obligated to provide any, yet expected me to prove my package was not oversized. It’s a harsh lesson learned: guilty until proven innocent. Allowing contractors to inflate package sizes for profit without any proof is outrageous. If they wish to impose additional charges, it shouldn't be too difficult for them to document the supposed error, especially knowing that customers will contest it. I suspect they might be required to provide proof but lost it, as it likely doesn't exist. It's clear that they benefit from padding charges on packages, making it easy to get away with. I haven’t left a negative review in over a decade, but this situation frustrated me enough to do so. It's time for the service to improve and ensure their contractors are held accountable for substantiating any additional charges. The responsibility should not fall on the client without proof.
I've had repeated disappointing experiences with the service. Packages have often not been collected on time, requiring me to follow up for three full business days. I was charged for an under-declared weight, which wasn't an issue, but I was never contacted directly; they sent it straight to a debt collector. If they had taken the time to reach out to me, I would have paid immediately. The communication is quite poor.
