We travelled with TD to Vietnam early November. Hadn't been on a guided tour before,usually do all booking and reservations myself.What a great trip, our guide Tuan was incredible. Problems solved with minimal fuss and an encyclopedia of Vietnam.We've booked a Nile Cruise with TD next year. Tops.
We have just returned from Egypt where we travelled from Cairo to Aswan with the Travel Department. We saw so many incredible places. We cannot fault this trip. Everything was perfectly organised and coordinated from start to finish. We were met by a friendly member of the Travel Department when we landed in Cairo and Luxor airports. Our bus drivers were amazing and they put in long days driving in busy traffic.Our tour guide, Dodi, was fabulous. He was professional and extremely knowledgeable and he spoke perfect English. He entertained us with his sense of humour! Dodi took care of our group really well and made the effort to remember all our names. We felt safe at all times and didn't have to think for ourselves at all! The river boat experience was very pleasant and intimate. Plenty of food was laid on at each meal time and staff throughout the boat were lovely.If we have anything negative to say it would be that we would have loved another 15 or 20 minutes at the Abu Simbel temples and at Karnak and Luxor temples. Also, the sound and light show in Philae Temple is nice but not worth the money. You're not missing much if you opt out of this excursion.Tip: Don't bother bringing Egyptian Pounds. Euro and US Dollars are preferred.
I just returned from a group trip to EgyptUnfortunately missed GEM by a few days but saw lots. Our guide Emad Fathy (Dodi) was a kind, fun, efficient and very knowledgeable guide. We were all well cared for. Cairo hotel was great and I enjoyed the museum trips. Lunch the first day went on a bit too long. Seeing the pyramids and having photos was fun. I went inside which was physically tough but worth it. The highlight for me was the river cruise and seeing all the temple sites and the Valley of the Kings. The boat was very homely and comfortable. The evenings were fun and watching the world go by from the deck was beautiful. Hurgada was a nice rest and change of pace. I would strongly recommend the optional trip to Anu Simbel, the hot air balloon trip and the snorkelling trip. Everyone we met were friendly and welcoming. A couple of negatives: Egypt is very dirty which was a shock, the planes from Egyptair were also very dirty, pace of the trip although expected was tough lots of early nights and walking on uneven surfaces in hot sun, food was adequate and a few people got sick - I avoided salads and was fine, on occasions better information on the boat would have helped. Overall it was a great trip with a great guide and I would highly recommend it.
A well organised holiday from start to finish taking in all the important sites and expertly guided by the experienced Dodi (110 Travel Dept guided tours of the Nile!!) Dodi took care of all 39 of us. He imparted just the right amount of information for us to absorb and appreciate. We had some early starts but this was balanced by a good amount of leisure time on board the boat and in Hurghada. The boat was comfortable but there was an issue with keeping food hot. The resort in Hurghada was very good and conducive to relaxation. MY TIP: Don't skip the tour of Karnak Temple in Luxor ...we saw it on our 9th day and as some people were "temple tired" they decided to stay on board the boat. In my opinion it was the best of them all ...very impressive!
The Hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful. Great location close to the beach. The food was very good and the nightly entertainment was excellent. The only complaint I would have was…the flights they were very late both going and returning.
We have just returned from our trip to Beijing & the Great Wall. From the initial booking process right through to the end of our trip I have nothing but compliments for the Travel Department. The flights, hotel, tours…everything was so well organised. While there our guide Angela was absolutely amazing…her passion for her heritage, and her historical knowledge really enhanced our overall experience. She looked after us so well from arrival to departure. Thank you again Angela for an amazing experience.
