Absolutely horrible company. They are a loan shark type operation. When you are left with no choice and have to do business with them, they will reduce the limit on your line of credit to less than what you owe, just to collect all of the fees. When you pay down the balance, they will continue the same behavior of reducing the limit to continue collecting fees. This should be illegal. Avoid this company at ALL costs.
I was a customer of Upgrade since 2023 with no issues until my wallet was stolen. Three consecutive unauthorized charges totaling nearly $5,000 were made at my local Apple Store. Upgrade did not flag the activity, did not send a fraud alert, and did not contact me. The only email I received was a low-balance notification.
Every other card issuer I use detected the fraud immediately. Upgrade did not.
I filed a police report and contacted the Apple Store, which flagged the transactions and was willing to cooperate. Upgrade never contacted the merchant, refused my police report case number, and made no effort to investigate. After nearly two weeks, my claim was denied for “lack of evidence” — evidence they chose not to obtain.
If you expect your bank to protect you from fraud or even attempt an investigation, Upgrade is not it.

Although I NEVER failed to make a payment to both of my Upgrade accounts ON TIME, and have ALWAYS paid them faithfully until my final payoff payments today, my credit line was denied and cancelled because of a dispute with a FRAUDULENT creditor, even though I have an A+ credit rating!
Folks , PLEASE don't trust Upgrade to be there when you need them! They DON'T DELIVER WHAT THEY PROMISE!!!
Happy they gave me a line of credit for $1,800, but they kept lowering my credit line when my credit fluctuated (down the up then down) . I never had a late payment recorded on my credit for Upgrade or any of the other credit cards I had, and they just lowered me eventually to $500. I owed $986 and it made me look like I was over my line! Paid it off and closed it. No, thank you, Upgrade! Now my credit score is shooting up again after paying all of mine off.
Three months ago, a loan was taken out in my name using minimal credentials that were fraudulently obtained from social media. The company approved this fraudulent loan without my consent. I only discovered this when I received a notice indicating my payment was overdue. After reaching out to the service, it became my responsibility to prove my innocence, file a police report, and verify my identity. After an additional month, the service acknowledged their error and has been working to rectify my credit report and remove the negative marks related to this fraudulent loan. For these reasons, I strongly advise caution and recommend that this company improve their verification processes before engaging in business.
Our experience with this service has been very disappointing, from the customer support to the billing department. They refused to speak with me, even with my husband present and having authorized me. The representatives were quite rude, especially when the post office failed to deliver our payment, leading to constant calls to my husband at work. We ended up refinancing the vehicle before even resolving the first payment. With our high credit scores, we did not expect such poor treatment! BEWARE!
