Review Time
There were a whole roomful of people queuing but Georgia, welcomed me, showed me to a seat, explained what the company did, how the valuation worked and how the queue moved. I realised the wait would be over am hour but within 15 minutes Geotgia returned with a cup of tea and a smile on her face. She treated everyone with genuine respect.
When l reached the valuing table, Dan explained what he did, why things were or were not of value. The 2 values did not get time to breath, just flat out but still courteous and respectful.
Georgia then took my details, explained an email would act as receipt and the bank transfer would be completed that day. It was.
I believe in good customer service. It is not easy to walk through the door with family possessions. I felt valued and because there was good communication the wait was not an issue. I will be back.
If it is busy, you do need that support person to create order.
Just 2 valuers in attendance but only had to wait around half hour. My valuables (jewellery) were offered a reasonable price so I was able to walk away with cash. I would recommend visiting as it’s local and offers a good service.
A lovely and helpful man called Blain put us at ease and helped to make our time with him a very interesting. My friend and I were very impressed and felt we had been given fair and honest advice.
This is the second visit I have made to this roadshow, the first was approx 7-8 years ago. Believe me I have had the best attention on both visits. I got excellent value for my goods and all was accepted. Both these shows were in Sheffield at Ecclesall Church Hall. Many thanks to them.
My partner and I decided we needed to declutter our lives. Having initially boxed everything we wanted to part with we then spent several days sorting into seperate collections which I would say is essential. No dealer will want to sort through a bagfull of bits. We organised what we wanted to take into seperate bags of coins, jewellery and items we thought would attract the interest of the assessor.
The process was very easy. The assessor was sat at a desk (there was another assessor too). We had watched people take their things up and to be honest the reactions had not always been positive. On entry, we picked up a sticky label number and sat waiting our turn in an informal location and atmosphere. What I did notice was that the majority of valuations seemed to be over old toy cars, rings and necklaces and especially old electronics and cameras.
When our turn came we took everything to the desk and laid it out on the table and I would say being organised is essential, and we explained the personal history behind items of real interest. I think by engaging the agent he showed extra interest in what were good, quality items.
Items of good value he placed to one side, explaining why those items were good and why other items were not so valuable. Rare items really work, but mass produced items, even old model cars and Hornby trains are not going to make you money unless the items are very popular, rare and in good condition.
What got us a good valuation was boxed Scooby Doo Mystery Van, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet. Mass produced Lotus, Ferrari etc did not so I think you have to be selective and not put your hopes too high.
Our gold items did well, as did precious stones, a coin collection of Victorian and Edwardian and Georgian coins, some surprisingly rare coins and some military items.
The gentleman explained what he liked and what he did not put high value on but he even went out to our car and checked some items that we had not brought in.
So, my advice is be selective, organise what you are prepared to sell into seperate bags if you have a lot of items, know your items with a little bit of research for conversation.
In the end everything we took was accepted. We had an idea how much we thought we would get and aimed low. We were not disappointed and the valuation was paid into our bank the same day.
A good valuation for us but i must say i think some people had expectations which left them disappointed. Remember the items may be personal to you for many reasons through memories or legacy but that will not be how a valuation will work. Be reasonable in what you hope and expect.
My mother died in 2010, she had a collection of jewellery that was valued for her estate. I decided it was time to let go of the items just sitting in the drawer.I took the rings I did not want to keep with a 2010 replacement value of £3k and some other items to see what would be offered. I was not expecting get full retail replacement value for the rings but was expecting to at least get a 50% offer. One of the other items I took to the valuation was a 9ct gold heavy chain (20grams).There was other scrap gold/silver/jewellery which I was told at the valuation had a worth of around £150.So you can imagine my surprise when the first offer was £1250 ... so basically £500 for £3k of rings. The offer was increased to £1350 which I rejected. I started to put the jewellery back into the boxes i bought them in, my jewellery was then grabbed up and dumped back into the jewellery box in a heap and I left feeling rather disappointed. When I got home I rang a jewellers I trust in the Birmingham jewellery quarter ... the gold chain at today's lowest gold price was quoted as worth £600 ... hence my calculation of £500 for my mother's rings.I was annoyed so waited 24 hours before writing this review to give myself time to reflect on my experience. My advise is have a good idea of the value of your items and dont be afraid to walk away if the offer does not live up to your expectation.
My wife and I went to a local venue yesterday with a lot of items to sell from gold and silver to old watches and and costume jewellery. Very friendly and professional service from Helmut. We got quite a pleasant surprise at how much our stuff was worth. We took some in cash and the balance was paid into our bank by 4pm the same day. Fantastic service. We would not hesitate to use again. Highly recommended
