I really enjoyed building my WoodblocX pond. I made a few mistakes putting dowels in wrong holes but managed to get myself back on track and completed the main build. It is only a small pond 1.125 square and 45 cm high, so not huge. I paid for a liner with my order and was horrified to find it was absolutely huge and so heavy I could hardly lift it. Thankfully my daughter was available to help me and we almost spread the liner out in my living room, worked out roughly how much we needed and hacked large amounts off with scissors. We folded the remaining liner and put it in the pond. There was still a huge amount of liner bunching up at the corners of the pond and we had great difficulty folding it enough to allow the capping planks to be hammered into place. We actually didn’t manage to get them to settle completely. There is a gap between the top of the walls and the capping. I have decided to buy beading to glue over the gap. This is a great product. Just needs more thought to be given to the liner for small ponds with straight walls.
Ordered specifically for delivery today. We had a call from the delivery agent saying they have just received the item and would like to schedule it for next week - so I've wasted the entire day I put aside for assembly. Will update when/if I actually get the product but so far the experience has been incredibly unprofessional.
This was my second order from WoodBlocX, and like the first one it was a great experience. The product itself is fantastic. It goes together beautifully — even when, like me, construction is done single-handed — and the instructions are second to none. I was building an L-shaped retaining wall, with the short end of the L on the left. I glitch on the website (now corrected!) meant that the request for that did not go through, and they delivered one with the short arm on the right. A quick email resolved the issue and within a day re-shaped pieces had been sent, even though they were short-staffed due to COVID. Could not recommend enough.
WoodBlocX is a very simple to construct addition to the garden, over the past 2 - 3 years i have added raised beds to my garden of varying shapes and sizes. good instructions on how to assemble, and the only tools i needed were a mallet and plastic pipe cutter to trim the height of the final pegs
