I’ve never written a review this bad before, but Taurus Insurance truly deserves it. My claim process was an absolute nightmare from start to finish.First, they demanded a mountain of documents just to even consider approving my claim. I had to dig back 2.5 years just to find the original proof of purchase — which is ridiculous. Then they wanted proof of usage, which took me three weeks to get, involving multiple calls and emails with people who seemed completely clueless about what they were asking for.After finally getting the claim approved, they told me to return the device for repair — even though it was something that clearly should’ve been replaced outright. They promised I’d get the repaired device back within 10 working days. I sent it the same day, using Royal Mail tracked next-day delivery.Now it’s been 8 days, and when I called Taurus, they said they still haven’t received my device! That means I now have to chase Royal Mail about it — after already dealing with Vodafone, mobiles.co.uk, Lebara, Google, and now this nonsense.And to top it all off, they happily took £100 excess, plus the ongoing £14 monthly premium, for what has been a truly awful service. These people are money-makers, not customer helpers. I would 100 times rather go to a local repair shop than ever deal with Taurus Insurance again.Avoid them at all costs — terrible company, terrible service, terrible communication.
I have a MacBook Pro covered for Theft and Loss under their Ultimate policy.Unfortunately on a working day, I used the MacBook Pro in the morning then over the course of the day whilst out driving making deliveries and collections, it has gone missing. I’m not sure whether it is lost or was stolen.I had assumed my Ultimate cover for Theft or Loss would cover me for this sort of situation.Unfortunately having taken all reasonable steps Taurus declined my claim and it’s now gone back to them for appeal.I use the £2k MacBook for work and it’s been really stressful not having it, and it’s really impacting my business. I hope they revise their decision. I’ll be updating this review once the appeal is responded to.
Made a mistake with my regular medication and had to pay to see a doc and get a prescription abroad. Asked for help with this from Switched On Insurance - no help given, it's up to me to find out how I get medication from a doc in this foreign country and they're not paying anything out as it's my own fault I didn't bring enough and then quoted terms and conditions. What a disappointment. It was an honest mistake (a la Rachel Reeves) and what's the point of travel insurance if not to help when you make a mistake?! Thanks for nothing. Perhaps I should have lied and said I'd lost my medication...
A COMPANY THAT TAKES PEOPLES DATA PROTECTION AND USES IT SCAM... – DO NOT TRUST TAURUS INSURANCEThis is one of the worst, most companies I’ve ever dealt with. I gave them EVERYTHING my passport, police report, personal bank statements, every bit of proof they demanded. After making me wait for over a month, they declined my claim using a made-up excuse that my device “did not have the manufacturer’s recommended security features activated.” WEAK VAUGUE EXCUSESS PACKAGED UP AS A PROFFESTIONAL COMPANY BUT INSIDE WORKNG LIKE A RING OF GANG. Their own policy says claims are only rejected if that feature isn’t on “without good reason.” WITH OUT GOOD REASON THIS IS WHAT IT SAYS.. I GAVE them a good reason and full PERSONAL INFORMATION AND POLICE REPORT evidence. They completely ignored it. This was biased, manipulative, and dishonest from start to finish.They’ve passed my sensitive personal data around multiple departments, no control, no respect for privacy. I had to spend my own money registering my phone as lost and stolen, and they don’t even refund that.Taurus Insurance are crooks hiding behind fine print, exploiting technicalities to avoid paying out. They are not fit to operate and should be investigated by the Financial Ombudsman and ICO. PLEASE CLOSE THEM DOWNTHIS insurance industry. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE
Honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with an insurance company. I made a claim with Taurus and from day one it’s been nothing but stress. They keep asking me for documents over and over again, even though I’ve already sent them everything they asked for. Every time I think the claim is moving forward, they come back asking for the same things again. It feels like they’re just dragging the process out on purpose. Still no replacement, no payout, no proper communication. Really disappointed and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
I went on holiday and my iPad accidentally fell and the screen cracked. This was on the 2nd day of my holiday. I love my iPad so was very upset that this had happened. I had gadget insurance with my travel insurance. Obviously so glad that I had. I uploaded all the required documentation to Taurus on their website. My iPad is 4 years old so was worried that I didn’t have the original proof of purchase but luckily I found it in my archived emails. Taurus approved my claim a couple days later. Said that I can go to the apple Genius Bar and get it repaired. I went to the Genius Bar but was told it was not in stock as it was an older model. They advised me to contact apple care. Apple care dealt with the replacement . Only thing here was I had to send my broken iPad to them and upon receipt and inspection they replaced it with another iPad ‘like for like’.I uploaded all the paperwork and now my claim is shortly due to be paid. I can’t fault Taurus. I contacted them a few times as my claim had to be processed online with apple and not with the Genius Bar. The staff were very helpful in regard to what documents I needed to send. Thank you Taurus
I lost my phone on the 23rd of August and have still not received any resolution on this insurance.Taurus have multiple ways to make this a sludge practice. They have multiple confusing webpages for making a claim, resuming a claim, or checking a status all being on different urls with different log in credentials.If you put your password in wrong once you need to wait 30 minutes (totally unneccessary).They ask for an inordinate amount of supporting documentation which is completely unnecessary.They breached their own timescales for responses. Everything about this is to avoid paying anything. I am so disappointed that this company was used. I will be contacting the financial ombudsman about how this practice can be acceptable in todays world.
