Review Time
Like many other reviewers, I initially found ACTBLUE an easy and convenient way to contribute to several Democratic candidates in the 2020 and 2022 elections. However, I started to get multiple requests from progressive causes and candidates that I did not support. I tried unsubscribing and canceling my account; ACTBLUE response was positive, but it continues to send me solicitations from candidates and causes. I want out of it.
Act Blue charged my credit card five times over a 3 day period in October when I made a one-time donation. I was careful to be sure to select the button that it was once, not a recurring donation, but the same amount was charged that day and four more times over the next three days. I'm finding it difficult to contact Act Blue to get an explanation or stop it happening again.
I made what I thought was a one time contribution of $25.00 a couple months ago. I did not agree to a monthly amount! I learned this morning that ActBlue has paid themselves $5.00 for the last few months. I am angry with myself for not keeping better record but I'm furious with this company. Beware!
I have never donated to this group and somehow have been added to their list of people to spam. They relentlessly disrespect your privacy and requests to not be contacted. These lousy creatures that work there outmaneuver FCC regulations through third party arms length agreements with other organizations to allow for plausible deniability on privacy rights and communications agreements. STAY AWAY or you will be spammed forever.
The DSSC emails me numerous times a link to take a survey of President Biden. But, after I answer multiple questions, they will not let me submit, in essence or effect, my survey unless I donate money thru ActBlue.com before allowing me to complete/submit my answers to their survey. They also email me anti-Republican Senator surveys with the same pay money first issues. Why waste voters time by asking me, and I would guess, most others, to complete surveys numerous times, but then ask for money before you'll allow the competed surveys to be submitted? Thanks for your help.
They don't even wait until I complete the donation before they process it. I didn't have any credit card information stored so I don't understand how it was possible for them to charge my card. I emailed ActBlue to ask. The customer support person who responded verified that I don't have cc info stored and suggested that my computer autofilled the info (although she didn't use that term). I want to emphasize that she was very polite in her response. However, I still don't understand how this could happen. In every case when I purchase something and my computer autofills my CC info, I still get a prompt to okay the transaction. I didn't get a prompt like that from ActBlue. The system used the same info I had used before and filled it in (which I didn't save, as I say). I didn't do that this time. This is the second time I've seen them process a donation before I've clicked on any tab or "okay to process." I won't use ActBlue again. I know candidates like to receive donations through this platform but I will donate another way.
