My elderly mother, 81, has made many donations over the past few years to this organization due to an overwhelming amount of solicitations I didn’t know about. For many months they were $1-$5 about 10 times a month. In this current month, Feb 2024, she has over 100 charges to ActBlue and one is over $1000. She lives on a limited fixed income and has been a lifelong democrat.
I like to be able to contribute to what I can. I don’t understand all the one star reviews. Act Blue is on auto one time donation. There is a pop up that asks - make it monthly? Or something like that. I have never been scammed or deceived. I think Marco Rubio is out to destroy the ability for regular citizens the opportunity to contribute.
I discovered last year that I had 6 recurring monthly donations that I had not agreed to. I canceled them all. So when I donated this year, I paid attention. I was VERY careful to click the "one time" box. Yep, more recurring donations. I guess the Democrats don't want my money, because ActBlue appears to be the only donation method. This company is a scam and will continue to take $ out of your account under various names & guises. It will be small amounts that you might miss but it will add up to thousands of dollars. Definitely put a merchant block on actblue or you will be slowly methodically drained
Clearly, ActBlue is selling my information and I am not happy about it. I have asked to be removed from their list but I keep getting solicitations from candidates not even in my state! If someone files a class action lawsuit I want to be included as I receive solicitations several days a week and I have requested STOP several times.
Endless spam texts full of fear mongering from random phone numbers so I can't block them. I type "Stop" to end them (like they tell you to) and a little while later in the day I get more. I have to wonder if it's just another non-profit scam with almost no money going to the candidates and most covering "administrative expenses and salaries".
I donated to a number of dem candidates several years ago. I have had to enter "stop" on hundreds of cell phone texts since and lately the number of text requests is becoming ridiculous. Perhaps any donation to anyone via any method would yield the same aggravation. So, I just won't donate now.
