I accidentally booked a property with Caterina House (Spain) via Airbnb and cancelled within less than one minute. No service was provided, no check-in occurred, and the host suffered no actual loss.Despite EU consumer protection law (Directive 2011/83/EU) and my polite requests, the host refused a full refund. Airbnb confirmed that the refund decision is solely with the host, but their response has been unhelpful.I am sharing this complaint publicly to alert future customers and to request a fair resolution.Dates: 17th of October.2025, Cancellation date: 17th. of October 2025.Reservation ID: HMSMWAC3HF.
I have used airbnb to book accommodation on a few different occasions and have never had any problems with their service. I recently had an issue with a host and contacted customer services for advice. They were patient, understanding and helpful.
Rented an apartment down Sheffield as my son and teammate was competing in a martial arts world championships , was a nightmare checking in the host put the key down a shady ally way few streets away from the apartment , Went to sleep realised wasn't any hot water after 2 guys went in a shower . Messaged Air b and b called me kept saying they wanted to help by offering to refund me , Didn't suit as i had 4 people loads equipment it was dark and Friday night and a strange town !!! The host was watching through a ring doorbell that seemed creepy !!! so basically Air b and b said we can give you 30% refund , but instead they just keep calling me and annoying the life out me . Can hardly speak English and sending me messages all times through the night , its actually laughable how garbage they are if you have trouble .
We recently paid over £1,500 for a stay in Gibraltar and during our stay was publicly humiliated by a security guard at the property. He made us feel threatened and frighted and left us with a shaken experience. We were told we had access to the pool area but he threw us out whilst screaming and shouting. At 67 years of age it's the last thing we expected. We complained to Airbnb and was given a paltry £200 credit for our next booking.
I reported inappropriate porn displayed on the tv in the rental studio where i was staying, and was told by airbnb "nothing they could do." As background, the studio is in the backyard of a home, hosted by 2 adults and they have a toddler, who plays in the shared space in the backyard, keeps all the toys in the backyard and uses the shared space with guests. i stated in my airbnb review that there was excessive amount of porn on the smart tv in the studio, and it was NOT a child friendly as there are no parental controls on the tv, and the owners child plays in the same shared space as the airbnb guests! the owner said I was "ruining his business" by posting the truth- that stated there was excessive porn in the common area of the studio (and he acknowledged porn on the tv in the rental studio). the owner was not concerned about the safety of his child who plays just 3 feet from the studio in his backyard. i was so thoroughly disgusted at the owner's behavior, response over text, and lack of care for their own child's safety. airbnb literally did nothing and said they would not investigate. THEY DO NOT CARE IF SEX TRAFFICKING OR CHILD ENDANGERMENT OCCURS AT THE HOST'S HOME.
We stayed at one in San Diego last month with some friends. The stay went great, but I remember a weird request from the owner being, "Do not strip the beds." I used to always do that as a courtesy. Take all the sheets off and pile the towels for the cleaner. Over a week after we left, the host said the bed in our room was stained, and we had to replace the entire bed and sheets. Even though she said the sheets didn't have any stains on them. Supposedly, according to her, my boyfriend and I had washed the sheets without anyone knowing and tried to hide the stain. We 100% did not do anything like that or make those stains. I am disgusted that we unknowingly slept in a bed with those disgusting stains. But since we didn't have any videos of the actual bed, under all the sheets, Airbnb sided with her, and we had to pay $600. One of the problems was that our friend booked it, so we weren't able to communicate with anyone while we were the ones being accused and called liars. So, unless you are willing to spend the first hour of your vacation taking videos and photos of every square inch of the Airbnb, be ready for them to side with the Host over some bullshit.
Customer service is a joke!I booked a room and checked in at 17:00, however the room was filthy and the sheets were not changed! There were no towels and bed filled with men hear and dirt from previous guest!Airbnb sided with host and i had to make a new booking! Total waste of money!
Just landed from my flight to Bolivia, from USA for 6 week stay. I collect my bags for our honeymoon. The reservation is canceled while we were flying, no joke. Less than 10hrs notice for 6 week stay in a different country. I'm sitting in airport with 6 weeks of luggage and no home and was offered $40.
Absolute rubbish. People can tell blatant lies on their reviews and Airbnb refuse to remove them. Bottom line is, if you raise any issues with the host, they will write you a bad review. Could just create a new account, but this is the second time this has happened and I'll never use an Airbnb ever again!!
