Rented a two bedroom apartment in Cyprus via AirBnB last June 22. Paid a shed load for a two week vacation. However, the apartment was a dump. Rotting floors in two rooms, no sunshade supplied, no sun loungers - until I complained - broken toilet seat, cracked wash basin, very noisy water pump and to cap it all, a plastic bucket propped up under the bed to stop the wooden slats from collapsing. All that and the owner of this dump blamed us for ALL the damage despite I had independent witnesses as to the state of the apartment and Airbnb stood by the owner and screwed me !! NEVER AGAIN WOULD I RENT VIS AIRBNB
A SHAME !I paid 1900euros for a room for one month and a half in London so I can do an internship at the French embassy.When I arrived, the room was disgusting (I found a nail in one of the drawers of the bedside table, the desk was so dirty it was sticky, the wardrobe was so dirty I had to clean it for several days before I could unpack, the floor was full of stains...). The rest of the appartment was in a poor condition, the bathroom was disgusting as well, and the way to the balcony was dangerous (you have to go through a small window, the stairs are broken so you have to put your foot on a plastic stool on which lays a wooden board with nails on it). Also I didn't know they would be other guests in a shared room, and my hosts even put mattresses on the floor in their own bedroom so they can get more money! I started feeling insecure, when one woman came to me in the kitchen and told me she had to sleep tonight in the same room as another man whom she did not know, and was not aware of this before her arrival.Then my relationships with my hosts started detariorating, as they were aggressive towards one of my friend who came for 4 nights (my host had given me her consent). They started to make false accusations (literally "I think your friend borrowed something but I don't know what"), and lie (writing to me one month after my arrival that I "shouldn't go to the balcony because it isn't safe" the very same day she sees me taking pictures of the balcony to send to airbnb). I felt so insecure about them that I started getting home as late as I could.I called airbnb to explain my situation to them and not only were they of no help, but they made me lose time, and made the situation with my hosts even worse.I would strongly advise anyone not to use Airbnb services, as they really turned my stay here into a nightmare.
Tricherie et dangerEn louant "une chambre dans une maison" à Luxembourg, je me suis retrouvé dans un resto chinois abandonné, la chambre se situe sur un escalier derrière le resto, sur un des deux étages, six chambres sur chaque étage avec un toilet et douche froide par étage (donc par 6 chambres), occupée par des chinois qui ne parlent aucun langue européen, crade, avec les literies jamais changés depuis des lustres. Pas de serrure sur la porte, donc fait peur pour dormir la nuit. Pleins insectes partout. Au bout du fil la propriétere très méchante et grossière, qui réponde "aller chercher un hôtel, si vous n'êtes pas contente". Mon amie avocat qui m'accompagnait a dit: "dans les cellules de mes clients il est beaucoup plus propre". Pourtant sur le site plein des bons avis et bonnes notes. Comment c'est possible? En novembre, en réservant à Florence, je me suis retrouvé dans un ashram, ou les gens fume la marijuana, parlées fort et écoutait la musique techno jusque au matin. Apres avoir reçu le remboursement (le cite ne rembourse pas ces frais), je me suis rendu compte que cette nuit a été la plus chère de tout mon séjour (je suis parti dans un hôtel). In November, when I booked in Florence, I found myself in an ashram, where people smoked marijuana, spoke loudly and listened to techno music until morning. After receiving the refund (the city does not reimburse these costs), I realized that this night was the most expensive of my entire stay (I went to a hotel). So, thank you, Air Bnb, but for security measures, I prefer to book on Booking, where anywhere, anywhere, but not on your site!Два раза попадала в какие-то немыслимые бомжатники во Флоренции и в Люксембурге. Даже фантазии заранее не хватает, чтобы представить себе такое. Первый раз это был какой-то наркоманский притон зимой без отопления и горячей воды, в котором куча народу ширялась, пила и курила всю ночь и гремела музыка, а второй был китайской ночлежкой с тараканами, непролазной грязью, отсутствием замка на двери, одним унитазом на 12 комнат и китайцами не говорившими ни на каком языке кроме своего. Оба раза пришлось уходить искать отель, а при этом деньги не возвращаются, а кладутся на дипозит сайта для использования для дальнейшего бронирования, с удержанием суммы "услуг" сайта. При этом в обоих случаях на сайте была куча положительных отзывов о каждом адресе. И цена была 39 евро в ночь. Короче говоря, сил моих больше нет, еду в Германию, забронировала через букинг нормальный отель и спокойна.
This Company is so bad. As an owner you have very few information on the guests, no copy of ID, no postal address once somebody want to book your property. Most of time there is no review as guests when they have a bad review register otherwise... they don't follow the identity of the guests ...they can register again and again... even if they are really bad!!!You don't know who is coming in your property, you don't even have all the names of all the guests... so Airbnb just ask you to say "YES" to your guests without any informations. Once the booking is accepted, most of the time guests are reluctant to give more information , even just a copy of ID or the postal address. Also you don't have any contract signed by the guests, if you have pb with him, it's complicated to call Airbnb. By experience I called them one time when a guest did not come for check out and did not give back my keys... the answer of the call center was "I have to close this phone call because you don't give me the right 4 last digit of your bank account number" which BTW was right... I had my bank statement in front of me with the credit transaction AIRBNB...Anyway no help at all from Airbnb , when you have a pb, don't count on them... no help at all... and they have the deposit ... so if you need to be reimburse of damages by the deposit ... just nothing, no contract, no deposit, no help from Airbnb. Very bad experience and so bad service from the inexistant "call center".I was obliged to change 2 lockers at my charge... 100$...I must say also that the most of time Airbnb provides bad people who wants travel discreetly without giving their ID and basic information about them. I had several guests visited by several prostitutes ( you always learn that later...). This never happened before with other websites... Airbnb does not care, they manage the payment and the deposit and you just have to shut your mouth...If you don't want have pb, or you care your home, believe me avoid them...
I rented a house from Laurent Beset in (Eysine) Bordeaux, in France. I told him that I am allergic to cats. He told me he didn't have pets but he had a cat . When I met with him he said, he was going on vacation and that he didn't consider a Cat a pet but that the cat wouldn't be there but He LIED! He is a LIAR!. I wasn't able to stay in the house with my family . I had to leave. He refuse to compensate me for my inconvenience and health issues that was cause by his negligence I got rashes on my arms as a results to an allergic reaction from his cat. Since I paid him cash for 1 week he saved him commission fee as well
I booked an apartment in Paris recently and communicated well by mobile, e-mail and the Airbnb site until about 2 hours before my arrival, which was pre-arranged with the host. Suddenly, he powered off his mobile, didn't answer e-mail and generally went missing. I couldn't reach anyone at Airbnb. There we were on the sidewalk waiting for him but he didn't show. Late in the day, I get an SMS saying he had tried to reach me, which was untrue. In the meantime, it being late in the day, I booked into a nearby hotel. I complained to Airbnb who simply said, it's up to the two of you. Of course, my host laughed all the way to the bank, having pocketed all the money except for about 20%. Airbnb got their cut. I didn't get the apartment and lost all my money. Airbnb is for scam artists.
