BUYER BEWARE!!$$
Our nightmare started in December 2023 when AHG scammed my husband and I out of nearly half of our retirement accounts! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!
Jeff ***, Cameron ***, Wally *** and Matt*** advised us to buy coins and sold us coins charging premiums between 65- 96% on 2 separate occasions. Totally decimating the cash value or our IRAs!
I called them again in November 2025 to question why some coins had not been delivered to the our metals IRA's. At that time, I was told Wally was on leave of absence and given new account reps, Ian *** and Anthony *** who said I should rebalance my Gold to Silver ratio and he proceeded to executed a trade. I then consulted a financial advisor and our bank and realized they were trying to drain more money from my IRA. I then cancelled the trade and called them back to get a buy back quote for my metals. They refusing to give me a buy back quote till some time in January, and insists cannot cancel the trade and the metals have already been sent. This company is a complete scam and should be investigated by the Attorney Generals Office. I will be taking further action since they are deceptive and stealing from seniors, how pathetic! Here we are in February and still no resolve. Shame on you American Hartford Gold!
Be sure to look beyond the 4.6 Star Rating. Our nightmare with American Hartford Gold began on July 12, 2022, when my wife and I chose to allocate funds to newly created IRAs—set up specifically to purchase precious metals—to buy products that were presented to us as sound retirement investments.
From the beginning, we made it very clear to our sales representative, Thomas Smith, that we were not collectors. We were seeking the best value for long-term retirement investing. Despite this, we were advised to purchase so-called “investment-grade” coins and bars. At no time were we informed of any extraordinary premiums — later we learned that we had been overcharged, ranging from 49.29% to 95.53% over spot prices for gold and silver.
Specifically:
• On 7/12/2022, we purchased silver at an approximate 73.68% premium.
• On 7/12/2022, I purchased gold at an approximate 49.28% premium.
• On 2/29/2024, we were again sold silver at an approximate 95.53% premium.
At the time, we had no experience with precious metals investing and relied entirely on the guidance and representations of our sales advisor. We trusted that he would recommend products aligned with our clearly stated investment and retirement goals.
In April 2024, I began requesting updated statements reflecting the value of our gold and silver for a portfolio review with my investment advisor. After numerous calls, I was repeatedly told that my account representative was unavailable and that messages would be passed along. I never received a return call.
After weeks of persistence, I finally spoke with a representative who told me that although we would realize a profit on the gold investments, that would not be the case with the silver. This made no sense to me. Since the time of our purchases, spot prices had risen dramatically for both gold and silver. When I asked how our holdings could show little to no increase despite major gains in spot prices, the representative failed to provide a clear explanation.
In early December 2025, I requested a buyback quote. Again, my calls and emails went unanswered. Eventually, I reached Stuart Grant in Client Relations, who provided a quote for only a portion of our holdings—at wholesale melt value for the same so-called “investment grade” coins we were guided to buy.
Our total initial investment was $61,473.90. Based on current spot prices, the approximate spot value of our holdings is $129,158.75. However, we were initially overcharged by $19,417.79 in premiums, and the company is now offering to repurchase the metals at wholesale melt value, which is only a small fraction of what our investment would have been worth had we not been swindled.
This company is run by scammers with no conscience, eager to take advantage of people who are expecting them to be honest and trustworthy—shame on you Amercian Hartford Gold, and on Bill O’Reily for recommending this company.
American Hartford Gold is a corrupt company that engages in fraud. In December 2021, I contacted AHG about rolling my IRA at Fidelity to a precious metals IRA. The salesman I talked with seemed very nice and trustworthy. I trusted him to give me advice that would be the best for my investment future. He recommended that I buy silver Rose Crown Guinea and Australian Wildlife coins. He told me they were limited production and would appreciate more than other coins like Eagles and Maple Leafs. I questioned him on why they were so much more expensive and so much higher than spot prices. Again, he assured me that they would perform better for me than Eagles and Maple Leafs. Last December 2025, I needed to take my first required IRA Distribution. That is when I learned that I had been scammed.
When the salesman Machi at American Hartford Gold told me the liquidation values for those coins I was shocked. They were worth less than Eagles or Maple Leafs. I began researching and calling other dealers where I was told American Hartford Gold is involved in criminal activity taking advantage of older people that are not knowledgeable about precious metals. I was told by some of the dealers I called that those coins they recommended were only worth melt value. I have learned that I was charged a premium of 79% over spot for those coins which is dramatically higher than typical pricing. The total premiums I paid were $35,141 on a $100,000 investment. Since I was charged such a high premium on coins that were not worth more than other bullion, I have at least a $94,091 loss. This is because I could have purchased 665 more ounces of silver and 5 more ounces of gold at fair premiums.
I have tried to get some kind of compensation for the loss, but all I get are games like I will look into it, I will call you back, the back office is working on it, etc. I sent at least 20 emails and made numerous calls to American Hartford Gold, but I have been unable to get any compensation for my loss. ADVICE: Do not trust or believe American Hartford Gold. They lie! Research many precious metals dealers. Watch videos on scams by precious metals dealers. Do not buy limited edition, limited production or any collectible type coins. Buy Maple Leafs or American Eagles. Do. not trust celebrity endorsements. They get paid for putting their name on it. Two dealers I have learned that are trustworthy are Battalion Metals and Miles Franklin. Now, AHG isn't replying to my emails or phone calls.

Jeff Krull, Cameron Johnson, Wally Hudson and Matt Markowicz advised us to buy coins and sold us coins charging premiums between 65- 96% on 2 separate occasions. Totally decimating the cash value or our IRAs!
I called them again in November 2025 to question why some coins had not been delivered to the our metals IRA's. At that time, I was told Wally was on leave of absence and given new account reps, Ian Digiulo and Anthony Magana who said I should rebalance my Gold to Silver ratio and he proceeded to executed a trade. I then consulted a financial advisor and our bank and realized they were trying to drain more money from my IRA. I then cancelled the trade and called them back to get a buy back quote for my metals. Christian was very helpful and guided me through the process explaining it to me. I had a couple of questions and a special request. He was great to work with. Dani was also very helpful and was very sympathetic to my dilemma and request as well. I look forward to doing business with them again. Thanks.
For months I’ve dreaded and worried about the stock market and listened to the doom and gloom about a bubble! It literally made me sick thinking I might loose my retirement! I finally decided enough! I want to own something tangible and retains and that retains value! Luckily the people that helped me at American Hartford Gold, listened to my pleas for help, and as a neophyte, they walked me through the process of converting my retirement portfolio from doom and gloom ETF’s to something that is secure and safe in my opinion. No more dreading stock market futures. Special thanks to Layla, Dani and their team, they made it clear that they would be my go to people for my many Questions.
Jake and Dani were outstanding. Jake assisted me in getting setup and his knowledge of the company and the precious metals helped me make the best choices for my family.Dani was exceptional as well. She walked me through each and every move of the transaction. Her attention to detail was great. Their professionalism and courteousness just assured me I had made the right decision with AHG.
