Review Time
I specifically ordered library binding books. I received books that had Kmart price stickers on them. When I complained they said I could return them at my cost. They said just because website states it's library books with library markings that it doesn't guarantee it is. I will not order from them again.
I've ordered a number of books through Better World Books— it's one of the first places I check when I'm in need of a particular title. The shipping costs are reasonable and the items are as described on the site. Apparently, when I order books, books are donated to charitable causes (there is a tally of how many books have been donated). Many of the reviews seem to be reviewing the books, not the service, which seems to miss the point. The only feedback I have is that the rewards system is somewhat confusing.
I ordered a book which never arrived. The company then changed the status to delivered. I have cameras and I know this is not true. I have asked for proof of delivery but received no reply. I guess I will just have to write the money off.
Ordered a bunch of books three of which I never got. There is no tracking available. The books take over twenty days to get to me and their policy us over twenty days no refunds. If you message them within the twenty days they will tell you to wait. Proper scam.
I ordered books in September. Never heard anything back for weeks. Finally I emailed them in October and they said that the courier could not find our address so the courier sent back our order! We use the same address and recieve all our bills and post without any problem with anyone else. When I complained, the reply was to use a different address?? I only have one address. Very disappointing. I need the books urgently for work and courier had our email and phone number and they didn't bother to try to communicate!
Ordered a book and received a different book. Probably a simple error, which happen. However in keeping with other poor companies, there is absolutely no way to contact the company via phone. They block any method of actually speaking to a person to rectify Better World Books error.
First of all, the Better World Books account interface is useless, it doesn’t even mention the titles of the books I had ordered. Since I order from many online stores, I have no clue what books were supposed to come from BWB.I made an order recently, which did not arrive because of the gross incompetency of the delivery company used by BWB: UNIUNI.COM. One day, I suddenly got an email telling me that my package could not be delivered, so it had been sent back to the UNIUNI warehouse. I checked the tracker details, the tracker did not say WHERE the package was coming from. It took time and effort to track down the tracking number to Better World Books, only to find that even then, there’s no mention of which book title is being delivered. The tracker also indicated that UNIUNI had “failed” not once, not twice, but three times over two days… TO TURN THE DOORKNOB to enter the building, but they called each of these misses a “failed” delivery attempt. I had been at home the whole time, sitting 7 feet from my doorbell. The doorbells to this apartment building are inside an entrance behind the two big GLASS doors on the front of the building. This is not unique. I lived elsewhre for 5 years which also had two glass front doors and doorbells inside. At my current address of 9 years, you can see the doorbells through the glass doors; at which point, logic dictates that you have to come in to buzz an apartment. Which means you have to turn the doorknob. UNIUNI “failed” three times to figure this out and did not turn the doorknob, but called their efforts "delivery' attempts. Their efforts amounted to standing outside in front of the glass doors with their jaw hanging open in bafflement.I opened a ticket with UNIUNI, they ignored it.I opened another ticket with UNIUNI, they ignored it.I then opened a ticket with Better World Books, who wrote to say they couldn’t locate my “order”. A while later, BWB told me to contact UNIUNI myself to redirect the parcel. I told them again UNIUNI is ignoring my tickets. The next day, Better World Books wrote to kindly inform me that I could PICK UP the book at the UNIUNI warehouse a 2-hour drive from my address. I have no car, so this would be a $100 minimum cab fare. When informed of this, BWB responded that they will refund the book payment when the package is returned to them by UNIUNI.In other words, ZERO effort by BWB or UNIUNI to actually carry out the delivery already paid for, too bad for the customer, you lose your book (whatever it is, because the BWB account doesn’t say) unless you do a costly “self-serve” and go pick it up yourself from people who were too daft to turn a doorknob to deliver it while you were at home and reachable. It’s a door knob. But, apparently, in the case of Better World Books / UniUni, it’s an IQ test; and they flunked. I won’t use Better World Books again.
